What suburbs are safe to live in?

Hello,
My husband and myself currently live in North Queensland and within the next year or even two we are wanting to move to Victoria. I want to study beauty at one of the schools and my husband is a builder by trade. We have a child who at the moment is 1.5 years old & by the time we move will be 3/4 so I also want to be in an area where there is good schooling etc.
Preferably houses for rent no more then $360.00 per week. Good public transport into the CBD.
Any suggestions?
