Obrien group arena is in docklands, easy to get to plus you have the shops to do afterwards!
Fed Square had a pop up ice rink in Winter last year along with some food trucks: http://fedsquare.com/events/river-rink-in-fed-square
And on a slightly more serious note there is the Olympic Ice Rink in Oakleigh who offer skating lessons and cheap Friday afternoon sessions: http://www.icerink.com.au/
There's a good ice skating rink at the Docklands. O'Brien Group Arena.
They have school holiday activities & themed events. Ticket prices vary, depends on your age. Adults are $27 with skate hire. Or you can go on 'Tight Tuesday' for $11.
In the city in winter I like the atmosphere at Skate Slide Chill at South Wharf http://www.thecommonman.com.au/skate-slide-chill/. The ice skating rink is undercover, has disco balls and fairy lights, and great tunes on R&B Fridays. They have a bar off the side of the rink serving mulled wine and hot jam donuts, perfect treats for winter time! It runs until Aug 31.
For out in the eastern burbs Eastland shopping centre has recently opened a rink in Ringwood town square https://www.eastland.com.au/articles/ice-skating-winter-warmers. Best of all you get FREE entry if you spend $20 in the town square restaurants. It's running July 1 - Aug 31.
