Where is a good area to live in Melbourne that is under $550k?

What else are you looking for? How many bedrooms, apartment or house etc? Do you need to be close to public transport, good schools or anything?

At least 2br and 2 bathrooms. Near a good high school, close to public transport. I saw some townhouses in Lalor but not sure if the area is good? There are a lot of new house and land under $550k around North and West but again we've got no idea if they are good suburbs. And Southeast too.

Hi Rochelle - my preference would be to go east simply because I know it better personally. Can't wrong with Doncaster - but I also know Lalor is nice as well.
