What areas should I avoid in Orange? Where is safe/best for a family with a young child?
Young infant and we're looking to move to Orange. Lived in the central west for a while, Orange is convenient for work.

Orange is generally very safe in comparison to larger cities, but some parts like Glenroi and the street mentioned have not so good reputations. Generally west and north Orange are considered "best" but it depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is. You might want to look at schools first and then think about areas around this. Also think about renting first to get re-acquainted with the area.
Hope this helps
Glenroi is changing especially South Terrace because Housing Commission is selling off their housing stock in this area to reduce the number of HC tenants living in concentrated areas. This is happening all over the world as authorities realise it is a mistake to create social housing ghettos. The houses in this area are sold with a 7 year caveat to keep investors from buying the cheap housing stock. Because you will then get owner occupiers moving so over time there will be less concentration of HC tenants. The new owners will take pride in their property & they usually make improvements which is a good thing as it becomes contagious with neighbouring owners keeping up with the Jone's. Anyone buying now at these incredibly low prices will be rewarded in years to come as the image of Glenroi changes.
For me, schools first.
Bletchington PS or Calare?
Id avoid Orange completely!
Drug test any house for residue and avoid listening to snake oil realestate agents
