"Great family friendly suburb in Northen GC"

Oxenford is a great family friendly suburb in the northern part of the Gold Coast. It has everything you need including various shopping outlets, restaurants, pubs, take away, parks, lakes and easy access to the M1.

Oxenford is a prime location being 20 minutes to the Gold Coast Hinterland regions of Mount Tamborine and Mount Nathan, as well being about a 20 minute drive to some great GC beaches.

You also have quick and easy access to world class theme parks and attractions like Movieworld, Wet and Wild, Top Golf, Australian Outback Spectacular, and only a short drive to Dreamworld.

Oxenford is located near surrounding suburbs including Helensvale and Coomera, which both offer large shopping districts, public transport and entertainment.

Oxenford is a beautiful, leafy suburb with great mountain views, larger homes for families, and plenty of things to do within the area and surrounding suburbs.

"Great for Australian families"

I moved to Gaven Heights-Oxenford 10 years ago after selling my house in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs and couldn't be more happy. My children attend nearby Jubilee Private Primary school and I work at a law firm in Southport, a 12 minute drive. My eldest daughter attends Griffith University and can catch a tram from nearby Helensvale without the need for parking worries. It is a quite friendly mostly of Anglo-Celtic Australians dissimilar the multiculturalism of Sydney and Melbourne. As the Gaven Heights subdivision is about 20 years old, housing lots are of sizable proportions ,unlike the newer postage stamp blocks now part of the Gold Coast developments of Hope Island and others.

"Gaven Heights Estate-Oxenford"

Have lived in this part of Oxenford for 2 decades. The area stretches from Universal Drive at Hervey Street to Binstead Way. It is much quiter, smaller and more family friendly than nearby Pac Pines. If you are in your front garden it is common for persons walking by to say hello ! just being neighbourly and as a matter of courtesy. Up to about 10 years ago, Gaven Heights commenced at the same time as nearby P acific Pinesand was similar, but since then and what I have heard, Pac. Pines has gone downhill with too many small lot housing and townhouses and transient new comers. The Gaven Heights subdivion was developed by the Sunland Group in the nineties ( well known developers of the Palazzo Versace). The subdivision building covenant meant nearly all homes have land sizes of at leat 700sq metres min. to 1100 sqm which allows for the obligatory Qld backyard swimming pools. A good portion of the Gaven Heights Estate, Oxenford homes are built on elevated blocks with both coastal and hinterland views with cooling breezes. A very small percentage are town houses, less than 5%. According to 2016 Census , homes are free standing , are owner occupied, with residents of anglo-saxon descent ( more than 90%) and the balance mostly well educated Asians. I am not aware of any crimes in the area and have witnessd nil in 20 years. In the past 15 years the Council Division 2 has been poorly represented by any active Councillors and as a result it lack sporting facilities , such as Tennis courts. The new Coles supermarket, built December 2016 is situate at the corner of Universal Drive and Binstead Way . Education needs are met with Gaven Heights State School and Jubilee Ecumenical School for primary education. AB Patterson College is about 4-5 kms away, with High schools in Pacific Pines and Helensvale. Griffith University is about 10 min drive and located next to the Gold Coast University Hospital and the new Gold Coast Private Hospital, (previously Allamanda Hospital in Southport). Surfside bus service runs to Helensvale and Southport, but as most peoples use cars, buses are primarily used for school transport. The area is close to Helensvale rail and the new Gold Coast light rail. It has fast cable internet speed and the NBN is being installed but intend staying with cable. I have excellent TV reception from Mount Tamborine. Well recomended for persons fitting this culture and established profile who wish to buy as owner occupied .

"The business area is getting busier!"

That commercial area is growing and now has a Bunnings and an Aldi, with a medical centre and McDonald's being built currently.. The mechanics there are brilliant. The big oxenford lake is a popular place to exercise, it's 4km around and there is always people walking and running it.. A new playground , picnic area and toilet block have been built there and apparently they are improving the parking next. I believe the pony club has now moved a short distance away near the new causeway bridge..

"It really is home"

We have lived in Oxenford for the past 3.5 years and it is the first suburb we have lived in for the last 10 years that really feels like home.

Many of the block sizes in the older parts of Oxenford are quite large, it's lovely to get that feeling of space that is lacking in most newer suburbs - here there is lots of greenery and privacy, you can't lean out your bathroom window and shake your neighbour's hand the way you can in the new suburbs where all the houses huddled so close together.

It's a great location, only a couple of minutes to the M1, a 20 minute drive into central surfers and a 45-50 minute drive into Brissy central. Close to all the theme parks if that's your thing, and only minutes from driving out to the more "rural" areas at the back of Oxenford.

The Oxenford retail area has retained almost a country village feeling; it has a retail area with a good size Woolies, plus other necessary shops like pharmacy, newsagents, butchers, post office etc as well as some speciality stores and cafes. Plenty of services such as medical, legal, accounting. Just up the road from the retail area is a commercial area with businesses as diverse as the vets and petshop, to landscaping supplies, mechanics, plumbing and pool shops. Also every fast-food store imaginable within a few minute's drive. The Pony Club close to the main centre lends a rural feel. Want more than the local "village" has to offer? The huge Westfield Helensvale is only a 10 minute drive away along the service road.

It's a great area for families, and also older folks; schools within walking distance and a quiet peaceful area. Great parks and green public spaces, lots of places to walk.

It's in the "growth corridor" between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, so expect the price of your home to rise accordingly.

"Great for families"

Oxenford appeals to younger families that are either working on the Gold Coast or Brisbane. With traffic Brisbane is about an hour drive and Gold Coast is only 20-25 minutes to reach the beach. I think the suburb is still fairly affordable although there are other suburbs that are more competitive with pricing for new and existing homes.

Ahh yes, the "1 hr" commute to Brisbane eh? Yeah , Nah. Perhaps if you leave at 0430hrs with the remainder of QLD's tradie workforce, you might not sit in traffic at Gaza. But most likely, not. The M1 freeway is quite possibly the nearest to the wort freeway in QLD, and it will only get worse, not better. Nevermind, just take the over priced train service, that'll take 59 mins thanks. And you still get to sit in traffic after work on the M1 as well! Brilliant. This "gold coast" lifestyle certainly ain't what it panned out to be! And it's getting worse!

"An up and coming suburb."

Oxenford is at the base of Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland, approximately an hour south of Brisbane. It has adequate retail opportunities, with several big supermarkets and plenty of specialty stores. It is smack in between two major gold coast attractions, Dreamworld on the north and Movie-world to the south. There's also Wet and Wild and the Outback Spectacular close by as well. A large amount of development has occurred in the past few years with large tracts of land being swallowed up by developers and housing projects. In saying this it's a clean and affordable choice for first home owners that is close enough to the conveniences of the coast without the price tag.
