How is Point Cooks accessibility to Geelong and Melbourne?

Moving down from the Gold Coast, QLD in early 2012 and have been looking at Point Cook as my partner and I need to have easy access to both Geelong and Melbourne. Is Point Cook a suitable option? We will both be students so need somewhere affordable to live and relatively quiet. Are there any other areas you can recommend if not Point Cook?

Point Cook is a newly developed area as you can see all the houses have been built are quite stylish. You will need to drive your car to the nearest station, either Aircraft or Laverton, then take the train. There are direct routes that can get to both Melbourne CBD and Geelong. The suburb is still developing, there are some shopping centres that are currently spending and refurbishing. There is a large shopping centre called Point Cook Town Centre it's very new and got everything you will probably need. Hopefully the area can become better and better.

Point Cook is great for access to the freeway which access Geelong. I personally do not like Point Cook, the Town Center is pretty crappy and the houses are too modern and stylish for my liking. Altona Meadows is a better place, and is just as good for access to the freeway as Point Cook, only a 3 minute extra drive.

Point Cook area is still very car dependent. if you do have a car, Point Cook probably offers a very good choice for accessing Geelong and Melbourne.

If you both drive, it's very convenient. Like every other freeway and every other major freeway in Australia, if your traveling to the city, leave early! Peak hour is always a pain. The freeway is at your doorstep for Geelong and you should be in the heart of Geelong in 30 mins. If your looking to rent you should be able to pick up a newly built 3/4 bedroom home for around $350.
