Hi Janene, I'm a female, 56 and moved here 4 years ago from Queensland because of cheap housing, Cunderstand your situation. Crime is really non existent here, I even leave my door unlocked when I go to the shops. There may be a little bit of vandalism but everyone here looks out for their neighbour. I've heard Georgetown has a drug problem, but this sort of thing is very doesn't really show it's self here. There is a community bus that you can use to travel and the medical centre and hospital is very good. Volunteers are very welcome and as for nightlife it's good you're used to none lol! Regards, Gayle
