Reviews of Banksia Grove, WA
"It’s not the best"
I was in the older area of BG. Unfortunately, there was ongoing issues with neighbours, particularly Homeswest homes. One house, near myself, seemed to get regular police visits. The tenants were changing regularly and I don’t think we got a decent neighbour in the many years I lived there. It wasn’t all homeswest either. There was no consideration to other neighbours. I left in the end. I think some parts are really good, especially the newer part. Unfortunately, it has a name does Banksia Grove. I guess there’s pockets of antisocial behaviour everywhere but I figure this place could be top of the list. The old part backs onto countryside which is stunning. The bushfires started there several years ago. The new part is modern compared with the old. I lived there 16 years with many ups and downs. It was rather nice in the beginning. Shame!
"What I found"
The older part is dodgy and it seems in summer many people don’t have a desire to water their lawns hence it all looks dead. Things are over-grown and I’m not sure the Council goes through and neatens the vast growing weeds through winter. The old part, in places, gives me the impression that nobody really cares. Newer better but lots of parties going on. Fine if you like them on a Friday or Saturday night.
"Why I had to get out"
I lived in Banksia Grove for a while but I had to move as where I was barking dogs struck up the band for hours once their owner left for work. I left later but it would have gone on for at least two hours. Unfortunately, I was sat amongst social homes and it was horrid. Frequent police in our street. The noise was awful with people playing extremely loud music. If I didn’t work one day, I had dogs barking plus the ramped up stereos. There didn’t seem to be any consideration for anybody else. I decided to move to find peace away from all the goings on I’d been faced with. I’m not saying it’s all bad but my situation wasn’t good. There were two crazy druggies in my street that would just go on screaming matches. I’m glad I moved because I’m now amongst decent people. Houses in that area are cheaper but it seems to invite uncouth youngsters and feral families. That’s how it was for me. Pretty bad.
"Not for most"
I was living next to a bikie who didn’t work, his g/f worked full time. As soon as she went to work it was on. There’s wasn’t a day it was free. Stereo full on and I popped over and asked him to kindly turn it down. He told me to ‘f off. I had my elderly mum living with me then too. On top of that Homeswest behind me throwing rubbish over and dirty nappies. The other side drug dealing house (Homeswest). They get kicked out then we get someone else and there was fighting going on. Finally, another single mother who put her kerb pick up two months early. It looked like a dive.

"BG"
I wouldn’t advise anyone to move to this place. There’s so much going on and quite often there is ramped up music (if you can call it that). It’s hades, that’s the only way I can describe it. Think twice as it appears to have gone to the dogs, especially the old part. There’s a deli there that was very handy to go to and a friendly proprietor but I think he sold the business. It’s been totally vandalised and graffitied. There’s teens going around thieving, breaking into cars (this is a regular occurrence). Social housing with often drug dealers living in them. I had that issue in my street. Think seriously because it’s not getting any better. I had to move in the end. I’m glad I did too.
"Don’t move here. Bad neighbours, state housing, you could be lucky (or not)! It’s cheaper for a reason. Where I lived a party went on until 5am and I just couldn’t find a decent place in my house to get away from it. Windows rattled."
You may be lucky, but if not encourage anyone to move here, especially the old part. Both sides having state housing. My advice is look elsewhere and check areas out. It’s not all bad but it’s a chance you could end up with blasting music 24/7.
