Reviews of Ravenswood, TAS
"Very Affordable"
Ravenswood consists of Two shopping centres a Service station, Police station, Volunteer Fire Station, Skate park, Hotel, Over 50's club, Community health centre, Community centre, Pharmacy, Library, Bakery, Neighbourhood house, Newsagent pus a few other conveniences as well as being a ten minute drive to the Launceston CBD. The suburb is perceived to have two sides - north and South, both quite affordable to rent and purchase but the south being more desirable of the two. "North Side" does consist of quite a few government housing properties where as privately owned homes is more dominant in the other areas. On many occasions, you can pick up a very affordable property.

"Bad press = under valued property"
Old Ravenswood is a quiet, peaceful and friendly neighbourhood. We moved here approx 15 months ago and enjoy being here. Not much through traffic, not much noise at night. Quieter here than in Prospect. Neighbors all say hello and wave, people pick up after their animals when walking, convenient for public transport and CBC only 5 mins away. Expect good capital growth in the long term. We repainted, re carpeted and landscaped the yard and the had appraisal - added approx $40k value with not much outlay.

"Real estate value close to City."
Ravenswood has unfairly suffered do to negative publicity.
Old Ravenswood is less than a 5 minutes drive to the City. With a Chemist, brand new Family Centre and Community Centre, Seniors Club,Supermarket and Public Library plus public transport Ravenswood caters to seniors and families alike. It is close to all other services, Mowbray shopping complex with it's Woolworths and brand new Coles, doctors etc. Ravenswood also has the local Tavern with a terrific Bistro serving great meals sumptious steaks. Even the Airport bus shuttle has a pick up run at the door. Most of the residents have been living in Ravenswood for over 30 years and those younger couples who need their first home have done well settling into this very quiet neighbourhood. When the locals are out walking their dogs in the evening and chatting with neighbours, well I ask you; how safe is that?

"Good rental yields for investors"
Ravenswood has great views. It is only 5 mins drive to the Launceston CBD. A cheap buy in area and has good rental yields for investors, as has an area of housing commission owned homes, so some stigma attached. Never had a problem with tenants. It has some new developments being built. A long - term investment.
