Is Machiavelli Restaurant in Sydney, the best Italian restaurant in Sydney?

Recently had dinner there and found it to be the most authentic, unpretentious place, just like an Italian Nonna is in the kitchen. (I think she is!)

I'd have to say Yes. I've eaten at Jamie's Italian, a more modern rendition of Italian in Sydney, and this trumps it. The old school feel about the restaurant, and the no frills means it actually feels like you are in Italy. The food is so traditional, you really can't go wrong. Try the spaghetti Bolognese and the prosciutto. Also ask the waiter about the wine they have on offer, they have some of the nicest wines direct from Italy.
