Did you know that the N.S.W. Government Swimming Pool & Spa safety legislation (delayed twice) will apply from 29th April 2016. The upshot for Pool and Spa owners in N.S.W. is that they will not be able to Sell or Lease their property after that date without a current Swimming Pool & Spa Safety Certificate. No problem you say "my Pool and Spa comply" maybe not? It is estimated that 90% of pools and/or spas fail the first inspection.
No problem you say "I will deal with it when I want to sell or lease!" Perhaps not a good idea when you consider that there is only a handful of suitably qualified Pool Certifiers in N.S.W. to inspect over 350,000 pools and that doesn't include the spas. It is estimated that a Pool Safety Certificate could take between 6 and 9 weeks to obtain, and even longer if rectification work is required.
My advice is do something about it now! Seek the advice of a qualified Certifier before the headlong rush in the Q2 2016.

I'm afraid everyone is just ignoring this Legislation in case it raises a can of worms and winds up costing them money. Don't ignore it seek some advice from a qualified Swimming Pool Certifier who will advise YOU and act for YOU to minimise YOUR exposure and cost to comply. I did, and now I'm satisfied my Pool is as safe as it can be and if I'm inspected I can produce all the necessary paper work. I don't have any axe to grind here I just believe we should do our utmost to minimise the chance of children unnecessarily losing their precious lives in back yard pools. let's face it there are plenty of dangerous pools out there. I am happy to recommend the certifier that acted for me. His name is Lee Armstrong of Armstrong Projects - 0412 622 345. Have a look at his website to satisfy yourself as I did http://www.armstrongprojects.com.au/pool-inspections. BTW I have no affiliation with Lee other than I was very impressed by his knowledge and the way he worked with my wife and I to both meet OUR needs and manage OUR compliance issues. The cost wound up being very manageable and it was worth it just for the peace of mind.
