"Great suburb to raise a family!"

The most sought after family suburb South of the River, and the most popular suburb I sell real estate in. Tarragindi has a lot to offer. Consisting of the highest owner occupancy of any surrounding suburb, close proximity to the city but still having the suburban feel, surrounded by bushland and forest. Amble parks for kids (some pet friendly), close to schools and public transport.

"Bushland suburb close to the city"

One of the most popular suburbs I sell property in. So close to the city but many people still comment that they feel like they are much further out with the suburb bordered by bushland and forest (Brisbane's Green Belt). Statistics show Tarragindi has the highest owner occupancy of any suburb in the southern corridor at 90%, meaning less rental properties. A great suburb for families with lots of parks (some pet friendly), walking paths through the bushland and some very popular schools. The busway is a great way to commute the city quickly as well as good access to the SE freeway, city bikeway and clem7 tunnel. I have lived in Tarragindi for 15 years and could write a novel about all it has to offer, great place!

"Im moving out of the family home, but I intend on staying in Tarragindi."

I have lived in Tarragindi for the last 16 years and have grown to love it, especially as a young adult. Easy (and quick) access to the city via Ipswich Road/Freeway. The outdoor rec areas are great and I love the council 'free movies in the park'. The bike tracks are easy to join and a great way to ride/run into South Bank, city etc. High and dry!

"Love Tarragindi!"

I was brought up in Tarragindi with my parents place backing onto Toohey Forest so we had a great expanse of play ground right out the back, it was quiet and very safe, easy access to the city and my high school. I bought my own place in Coorparoo and always wanted to get back into Tarragindi, the Coorparoo unit was noisy with Old Cleveland rd so close and messy with fast food litter/junk mail everywhere. When I had enough of the noise and garbage we bought a house in my favourite suburb Tarragindi. Admittedly it would be nice if there was a bit more of a 'coffee scene' like Oxford st in Bulimba but the Tarragindi Bowls club is fantastic for a beer after work or a Sunday session. Access to the city is awesome, public transport is great and the leafy outlook makes you feel like you are in the country while only being 10 mins drive the city centre.

"Seriously . . . . how good is this suburb!!"

Moved here about 18 months ago and couldn't be happier. Close to the city with excellent freeway access and the 120 bus has just been upgraded to a high frequency service. So getting to work in the city will not be a problem. You probably already know about the leafy streets, Toohey forest, parks and bike tracks. But Tarragindi has a great primary school also, called Wellers Hill Primary. There is a good reason that the average holding period for property is around 11 years. It is just a lovely place to live. Tarragindi offers lifestyle, community and convenience. Highly recommended.

"THE SECRET GEM OF BRISBANE"

I grew up here and my mother still lives there and since having moved through a few different suburbs of brisbane, I can only say that Tarragindi is a WONDERFUL suburb. We grew up knowing all our neighbours and there were plenty of kids to play with. It really had the safe factor to it and we would venture off to creek or the local park. It was truly a blessed childhood. As i got older, I took advantage of the forest and use to walk there almost daily because it was there and easy to access. We went to an awesome local primary school and once I hit high school, there were too many options because we had access to so many. Mind you we didn't have a car till i was in grade 11(1998) so just walked/bused it.
Once they built the busway, it made going everywhere that much quicker and easier. I would recommend this suburb for everyone families to singles. It caters to all really. The busway gave me the freedom to go to the city freely and not worry about driving. REally super cost effective! Streets were always safe, i walked many countless times home from that busway(a good 10min walk) on my own(and I"m a chick). It did help too that I knew so many locals because that's just how it is. Its safe and exercising is the norm! I thought moving out of home was exciting at first, but in my late 20's, I really want to move back to the area again. If only my little family and I could afford a home there now!!!!You won't regret it if you move here! The closer to the forest you are, the better it is too! Its super leafy and the locals are nothing short of friendly. I forgot to mention, Uni is ridiculously easy to access. You can walk their through the forest, or just bus it. I mean it doesn't get better then that. Plus I found that not many ppl even knew Tarragindi, as I grew up. Was kind of bummed they eventually put it up on the highway because it was nice when no one knew the area.

"A busy thoroughfare"

Tarragindi doesn't have the benefit of being on a peninsula that protects it from through traffic, and it is very close to the freeway. This is a good thing for people who need to have regular access to the highway.

"The best suburb in south Brisbane!"

Tarragindi is a highly desirable suburb to live in and it's easy to see why; close to the city, friendly locals, excellent transport and very green and leafy.

My partner and I grew up in Coorparoo and were delighted when we bought our first property together in Tarragindi. We've been here for two years now and wouldn't think of living anywhere else in Brisbane.

The local fruit shop and grocery store are so convenient and there a few great places to eat as well. The 'Gindi Bowls Club is a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon too!

"A wonderful suburb"

Great community to live in! Spent my twenties wanting to live in a place called "Tarragindi". Have bought and sold twice in this suburb with my family in my 30's! Will spend the rest of my days residing here. Close to town, great parks and 40mins to the northern tip of the Gold Coast. Excellent schools, with public transport to and from. Love the forest for walking and riding in and the choice of parks for the kids to play in. Live in a street where each year for the past 16years they have arranged a street party for Christmas. When walking the dog, everyone says hello and smiles. The local store has everything and is within easy walking distance.

"A hidden jewel in Brisbane's south"

Tarragindi is ideally suited to families and/or professionals needing easy access to the city and plenty of green spaces and a quiet environment. The area is replete with parks, reserves and forest and is far less built up than your average inner city suburb. Close access to the SE freeway means you are in the CBD by car generally in under 10 minutes (in good driving conditions); most bus routes here join the busway which shortens trips considerably. I get into the city by bus far quicker than I ever did living in city suburbs like New Farm and Paddington. Access to the freeway also means you can be at Main Beach/Southport and other Gold Coast beaches in under an hour. This is one of the quietest suburbs I have ever lived in - you can walk most streets here at 8pm on a Friday night and barely hear a sound. For most people I know, that is a big positive. I think this is largely a function of the area attracting a lot of families, and the complete absence of appartments/unit blocks (due to zoning) that would otherwise attract more boistrous student types. That said, it is only about 5 minutes by car to Griffith University and the University of Queensland's Green bridge access.

The one compromise you may find in moving to Tarragindi is that is currently lacks a decent retail hub or cafe/restaurant area. That is not a huge issue though, because there are plenty of grocery options in neighboring suburbs, a couple of choice takeaways in nearby Annerley, and plenty of restaurant/cafe options a bit further down the road in Stones Corner, West End, South Brisbane. One of the best bakeries/butchers/fruiterie in Brisbane, at the Rock'n'Roll fruit barn in Greenslopes, is about 5 mins by car. There is plenty of potential for a great dining strip to establish itself somewhere in Tarragindi (a la Camp Hill/Coorparoo), and I think as that happens over time this suburb's capital growth and status is ripe to move into another stratosphere.

Right next door to toohey forest for relaxing walks in the mornings/ evenings. Very quiet neighborhood with very minimal traffic, yet is incredibly convenient to city and southbank. Will be even better once tunnel is finished as is first exit before and after tunnel.
