"Close to city but you wouldn't know it..."

I actually live on the street that is shown in the pictures. We are part of the community garden and its a huge asset to the neighborhood. We have two young kids and I rarely drive to meet friends, there are lots of friendly families and spaces for the kids to play freely. It is very dog friendly too with a dog park nearby. My husband rides his bike to the city for work and takes him 20 minutes door to door.

It is not cheap to live here but it is totally worth it.

Looking for a home in Toowong?

"Riverside Charm"

Toowong is a vibrant, energetic neighbourhood on the west side noted for its institutional pubs and character-rich cafés. Toowong promotes an active lifestyle  thanks to its authentic Queensland charm and hard-to-beat suburban shopping culture.

"Lovely place, convenient and nice."

Feel like in city, train, buses, ferry, got everything. Most streets are quiet, no problem even living on Sherwood Rd.

"Looking for a place to live? Well, Toowong is the place for you!!"

Toowong is an amazing suburb, it has everything the average family needs. It has a wide range of diversity, and it is full of happy people. Toowong has many family-friendly facilities, and it is in great proximity to the Brisbane CBD. There is endless health care for everyone's needs, and the Toowong Village is the famous mall that hosts over 200 famous shops! Toowong also has many job opportunities to suit everyone, from teenagers to highly-qualified adults. As for housing, there are many different homes to support everyone's needs, from units to townhouses, all of these houses are affordable and hopefully, your future 'forever' home!
If you are looking for a place for you and your family to live, you should seriously consider Toowong! There is absolutely nothing wrong with it!

"Convenience and amenities"

I’ve lived in quite a few Brisbane suburbs and Toowong has been my favourite! Do I start with shops, cafes restaurants all within easy walking distance. The transport options of city cat, train and bus all within walking distance. Toowong village for all daily shopping needs and Indooroopilly or the city both only a short distance away for your bigger shopping needs. Big city life with the peace and quiet of the suburbs, could not recommend it enough.

"Noisy and increased crime"

I moved here from Sydney and loved the suburb. However, there have been some changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic which have made the suburb unsafe, there have been burglaries in apartments with break-ins at night while the occupants were sleeping. Also, the constant traffic noise is numbing.

Toowong is one of Brisbanes safest suburbs and is full of quiet streets (as its not a through suburb, and backs onto mt cootha/botanical gardens. You must have been living on a main road!

"Convenient Hub with great Shopping, Transport and Dining"

Toowong is a super convenient spot that has some lovely quiet spots as well as higher density living for those wanting to be close to the action. The Toowong Village offers most amenities residents could need and the area is serviced by multiple modes of public transport. There is a number of great parks and fields as well as great local sporting clubs also. Many families are also moving to the area for its great schooling options.

"Too much development and noise"

Toowong is a wholly unpleasant area in which to live, particularly of late. There is an enormous amount of development going on, mainly in the form of multistory apartment blocks. There is noise from trains, the pubs and, main roads that surround the area (Milton rd and Coronation drive). Don't waste your time trying to drive into the Toowong shopping area--it's just not worth it--roads blocked for 'works' or building construction, traffic lights seemingly positioned every 100 meters (or closer).

The entire Toowong environment feels invasive and stressful and is very unattractive visually.

Am so happy to be out of the place after witnessing massive change (all for the worse) over the last 10 years---will never return!

Isn't Toowong a really highly sort out area though?

Yeah this person obviously couldnt afford a very nice place and it shows. The apartment heavy area directly around Toowong village is what it is, high density housing. Once you get into the actual suburb you are in a lovey, private enclave filled with beautiful heritage homes. Price houses are restrictive starting around 1.2 million for the average family home on the lower end of the market which results in a very safe area with lovely neighbours and privacy, all while being a ten minute drive from the city.
