Reviews of Tweed Heads, NSW

"Grub of a place"

Most unfriendly entitled pack of people this side of eastern suburbs in Sydney, rude to the extreme, heaps of Sovereign Citizens, the worst drivers, they all seem to have a death wish the aggressive way they drive. The young girls are the worst drivers, all attitude no courtesy.Look further south for a more pleasant lifestyle, house prices are ridiculous here. If you can put up with mayhem maybe you could live here, but not for long before you wanted out.

Looking for a home in Tweed Heads?

"Border Brilliance !"

Stunning views, parks, beaches and waterways. So close to the Gold Coast you get all the convience and benefits without living day to day with the crowds and traffic. You have the best of both worlds - drive North for the action and drive South for relaxation .
There is a International airport at your doorstep, great food and entertainment venues plus being on the border you have the daylight savings benefits of early lunches and late shopping in QLD 😀
Areas like Bilambil Heights, Terranora and Banora Heights have fantastic views. You are about an hour from Brisbane and really couldn't wish for a better place to live. Clean and friendly.
Right, now for the bad - and I am getting really picky. It has a higher then average humidity (sticky skin and frizzy hair) and depending on where you live you might be under a noisy flightpath. Both no big deals considering what you get in return.
Also, although the traffic in Tweed is great as soon as you head north you hit the Gold Coast traffic and it can take hours to navigate the simplest of tasks.
Probably the biggest negative of Tweed heads is house prices. They are hideously expensive compared to other areas. But to be fair, if you want to live somewhere that has so much to offer, you will pay for the privilege. 😉

"Close to the Gold Coast without the hustle and bustle"

I live in Tweed Heads for 7 years and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be close to the Gold Coast but still maintain that close small town community feeling. Great Schools and Fantastic beaches, the town is a wonderful place to both live, work and play.

"Tweed Heads - too many good things to mention!"

We live in Margaret Street, Tweed Heads and just love the location. The Tweed River is walking distance with a great park for families and also a boat ramp which gets lots of use. The local seafood outlet is famous for fresh fish and there are also trawlers which sell fish they have just caught. It definitely is paradise for seafood lovers. There is great shopping in Coolangatta and Tweed with two large shopping centres. There is the hospital close by and also a large day surgery facility. Heaps of restaurants, entertainment venues for the young and the rest! The beaches are just beautiful, our favourite being Rainbow Bay. The Gold Coast airport is only 15 minutes away and also Southern Cross University has two campuses close by. We moved here from the Gold Coast and wished we had moved here long ago. I would recommend our area for all age groups.

"Great beaches & a relaxed lifestyle"

Tweed Heads is the Northernmost costal town bordering the NSW/QLD border with great beaches, endless surfing, waterways and a relaxed lifestyle. There is a huge variety of leisure and recreation options including bird-watching at Fingal Headland, whale-watching or exploring the beautiful Tweed River by taking a relaxing cruise. The Razorback Lookout provides an amazing and spectacular view of the Tweed River Valley or drive along this glorious valley through World Heritage listed National Parks. For a scrumptious meal, try the Tweed Harbour for some of the freshest seafood on offer or you can take a picnic to Duranbah Beach or Fingal Beach. To experience the nightlife, the Twin Towns Services Club or South Tweed Bowling Club are ideals spots to go.

Rentals in Tweed Heads

"The tale of two cities, or something like that."

Where else have you heard of a city being in two different states. The city has grown up on either side of the Tweed River, but it spans the border of NSW and Qld.

Tweed Heads has become a very popular place for retirees because the weather is excellent. Not too hot a summer and not too cold a winter. It is no wonder it is such a popular holiday spot. Tweed Head backs on the world reknown Coolangatta and then over the hill to Kirra, a world reknown surf beach.

Very much a holiday area the city caters for holiday makers in every sense of the word: a variety of accommodation, takeaways through to quality restaurants, fishing, boating, surfing, bowling, golf and so much more.

There is quite a lot of industry in the area because of the fishing and boating, but also because of the rural area behind. Tweed Heads tends to the the residential area backing on to and supporting the work on the Gold Coast.

If you love prawns then you will not go with out down in this area. There is no shortage of supply of fish and other seafood. Not far south of Tweed Heads is the Tropical Fruit World which is worth a visit. Tropical fruit and prawns go well together.
