Regents Park

"A lovely place for kids"

This is one of the nicer suburbs on the southside of Brisbane. Close to the Coast and Brisbane - easy access to major freeways.

There are some real bargains at the moment. Highly recommended for first home buyers looking to be close to everything. I would check out Springfield Lakes though. Very impressive.

Runaway Bay

"One of the quieter parts of the Coast"

I am not a fan of the Gold Coast, but Runaway Bay is a good middle of the road suburb, with a mix of people from all walks of life.

"This is a typical Brisbane suburb"

This is one of the better starter suburbs around Brisbane. It is reasonably close to the city, and the schools aren't too bad.

"Too far for a weekend away"

when there are other areas nearby that are so much nicer. This is definitely not a place to live - more a day out for those living in Bundaberg.

"Another great suburb"

that for some reason is ranked below some of Brisbane's most infamous suburbs. Who are the critics? If you want to drive around in your car all day then move to the boondocks. This is inner city living in very high demand -- people are voting with their wallets, see the price of property in this suburb. If you don't like it, you are in the minority.

"One of Brisbanes best suburbs"

.. but it languishes in the rankings below Goodna and Inala. Sorry, to have to be the Simon Cowell of this website.

"It is coming along but ..."

it is not one of Queensland's premier suburbs. Not sure why I have to be the one to tell it the way it is. Perhaps these suburb rankings need to have categories: best low-income suburb, best rural, best regional, best inner-city etc

Goodstone

Again it is unfortunate that this person has clearly never visited the area. Simply they have marked one star for everything. Hmmmm..... again one star for transport when it has a train station and bus network. It is a shame that their review is not helpful or factual. Appears to be jealous of the area.

How can you rate low for community spirit? Were you there after the floods? There are numerous childcare centres and schools, as well as food outlets, so your ratings there are completely false. It has it's own small shopping centre, with RBPs a three minute drive away, so false again. There is a TRAIN station and numerous buses that depart from there daily, so once again, you seem to have been misinformed. I have also found Goodna to be very quiet and safe, although this is obviously an opinion, and not as concrete as the other things I have mentioned.

"Recent drove through Labrador"

I had heard that things had changed, but I did not see any evidence of that, except right along the water. I wouldn't want someone to get the wrong impression of Queensland, when they see this suburb so highly rated. The nicer areas around here are Arundel and Parkwood. Just telling it the way it is.

I don't think a drive through Labrador is a fair and accurate way to judge Labrador. You need to live in the area and experience the lifestyle and amenity of the area first. I have lived in Arundel, Parkwood and Labrador whilst a student at Griffith Uni. The homes at Arundel are lovely but I was depressed living there away from the water and the heat over summer was stifling. Parkwood was walking distance to Uni so that was a bonus. Labrador by far was a much nicer place to live due to the ocean breezes and Broadwater access. I could live anywhere on the Gold Coast but I love living at Labrador. Labrador is a very good area to invest in and reside in.

Labrador has an old rugged charm to it. I have lived in both Parkwood and Arundel and whilst the houses are modern (albeit they look almost identical), and somewhat large, I felt the homes we had there lacked character. It's magic being able to see the glistening Broadwater from a deck above our leafy garden. And to feel the sea breezes through open french doors on a summer night is divine. Oh - and the old style wooden floors warmed by the afternoon sun on a winters day is another treat.

Woody Point is pretty good though? It's the immediate suburb south and has less than Margate. Ridiculous review.

Hi seo75.

You must not exercise, have kids or eat out. I can't understand how you could rate parks, health and fitness and restaurants poorly. There are a number of gyms that offer superb facilities at a fraction of the price of most Brisbane city gyms. The bike tracks and walking paths are also great for outdoor exercise. The parks and beaches are great for kids. New restaurants are popping up everywhere and trendy retail outlets are also starting to emerge. How long has it been since you've been to Woody Point or Margate???? Yes, the Redcliffe Peninsula is miles from many places and if you like to party or you work in the city it is a bit of trek. But I love it here!! And I would definitely recommend for families.

Thanks.

Apologies. I misunderstood your response.

Hi, could someone please tell me if you would be able to live in Margate without a car?

ChantelKurt

Hi, you can quite easily live without a car in margate. In terms of working close to city or pretty much anywhere else out of redcliffe pennisula, I imagine it would be hard without a car. There are locals buses, but no train lines facilitated as yet. Nearess train station would be sandgate and from there you would catch a bus which take approximately 15 mins.
