"Vibrant alternative to Melbourne"

The second largest city in Victoria, this suburban hub is home to over 160,000 people and is home to some of the countrys best-known companies, including Ford, the Geelong Football Club and the CSIRO. There are a number of shopping centres in the city including a Westfields shopping centre and a number of pubs and clubs are scattered around Geelong also. Families will enjoy the fact that there are both public and private schools in Geelong as well as a TAFE and Deakin University. A horse racing club, harness racing club, basketball team and athletics centre provide an outlet for sporting enthusiasts, and there are facilities for water skiing, rowing, fishing and hiking as well. For entertainment, Geelong plays host to a variety of festivals every year and is home to a performing arts centre and an art gallery.

"A rapidly growing commercial centre with good beaches and schools"

Geelong is Victoria's second largest city, situated on Corio Bay just 75 km south-west of Melbourne. The population has reached 160,000 and continues to grow.

It is a thriving commercial centre, with a number of large businesses and industries based here. It is still an active shipping port, and a popular tourist destination.

It is a good spot for family, situated close enough to Melbourne but far away enough to have a smaller town feel. There are a number of public and private schools here, including the elite private school of Geelong Grammar.

Geelong has a number of lovely beaches (although often freezing cold in winter!). The town also has a strong sporting culture, and is home to an AFL team - the Geelong Cats.

There are many restaurants, cafs and pubs here, as well as large shopping centres, a hospital and all other essential services.

"Second largest city in Victoria"

Geelong is the second largest city in Victoria and is only about an hour's drive away from Melbourne City. For tourists heading towards The Great Ocean Road, you will definitely pass by Geelong on the way. There are many nice houses in Geelong and many of them are heritage. There is a beautiful waterfront area next to Deakin University and Avalon Airport is conveniently located about twenty minutes away from Geelong.

In the main part of town, you can find malls, shops, cafes, pubs, clubs and restaurants typical of most cities. Other tourist attractions include the Ford Discovery Centre and the National Wool Museum. Another interesting piece of trivia about this place is that Geelong used to be the hometown of the famous celebrity paparazzi - Darryn Lyons.

"Situated on the bay, the city of Geelong offers an unparalleled lifestyle."

The picturesque Waterfront is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, where you’ll discover the art-deco boardwalk and 19-century carousel. The iconic Geelong Bollards have formed many childhood memories, with the quirky works-of-art
representing people who have shaped Geelong’s history. The city has certainly evolved over the years, with the well-preserved heritage blending seamlessly with modern architecture.

There’s something special to discover around every corner, from the Geelong Botanical Gardens to the stunning Arts Precinct and vibrant foodie destination of Little Malop Street. Home to Deakin University (Waterfront Campus) and various hospitals, Geelong
is also a desired destination for students and medical professionals. And of course, GMHBA Stadium invites you to watch the beloved Cats play on their home turf. Train
Stations and the Geelong Ferry connect you to Melbourne, while the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula offer the perfect weekend getaways.

"Walkable, historical and fantastic lifestyle"

The residential areas surrounding central Geelong are a beautiful place to live. There are multiple parks to enjoy and an easy stroll to the foreshore and cbd restaurants. It feels very safe. Parking is still easy enough but you will need street permits too as any all daybparks are taken by city workers. We love the historical houses and landmarks around us.

"The gardens"

The gardens and reserves are a great place to head to apart from the centres where you can sink into a lot of different cultures.

"Its alright"

Geelong is alright if you live in the Cbd. The waterfront is nice but its a city I'd rather drive through than live. Torquay is 100 times better!

"Geelong - a seaside haven"

Geelong's foreshore is the perfect place to escape the summer heat or enjoy a picnic during the cooler months. The city has great shopping facilities, excellent public transport and an enviable number of night clubs for people who like that scene. Dining out is also an experience, with something to suit all tastes and if you have a young family, Waterworld's outdoor fun park is well worth a visit. Located an hour's drive or train ride away from Melbourne, many people make the daily commute to the city and enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle in Geelong. The city also hosts an annual party on the waterfront on New Year's Eve which attracts some of the country's best bands.

"A great place to live not far from Melbourne"

Visiting Geelong it was apparent it was a vibrant and thriving city full of activity. There are a number of places to shop and it provides the gateway to some of the best coastline Australia has to offer.

It is a lovely place to stop and visit and it had a great feel.

The traffic along the main roads is heavy, especially along the Prices Highway, but this is to be expected. Once you get off the main strips the streets are quiet and peaceful.
