Affordable modern house/townhouse in Melbourne CBD proximity to rent?

I'm looking to make a move to Melbourne and need a safe, affordable (for a single income rent wise) property with at least one bedroom that will accept a cat. I'm mid twenties so somewhere with good cafes, restaurants and lifestyle would be good. I will need to be relatively close to CBD or transport for work. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Hi Teagan :)
I've been looking at places in St Kilda East and some might be suitable for you as well. You can get a one bedroom place for under $300pw, its not far from the city, its safer than St Kilda, its close to Chapel Street so plenty of bars and cafes as well as Carlisle Street. There's also some really nice parks and its close to the beach.
Heres a link to the current rentals in the area if you want to have a look: https://www.homely.com.au/rent/st-kilda-east-port-phillip-melbourne-greater-victoria?bedrooms=1&pricemaximum=400
