Scienceworks has a great school holiday program including a large-scale art installation 'Space Tape' and a 20 min astronomical show. They also have their fantastic permanent exhibitions Alice in Wonderland, Super City (think giant lego), Think Ahead and Sportsworks. Dinosaurs are a popular theme this holidays @ Harbour Town Docklands a Jurassic Creatures show will feature.

If your kids love wildlife I'd head to the Melbourne Aquarium (family tickets start at $69), Melbourne Zoo or Werribee Open Rand Zoo (Bonus: Kids entry is FREE on weekends and holidays!).

During school holidays when I was a kid I loved going on the rides at Luna Park (the unlimited ride family pass costs $150. If you're with the RACV you get a 10% discount) and Gumbuya Park (family pass starts at $55).
