What are the best live music venues in Australia?

I was wanting to make a short list of the best places to check out live music around the country for when I'm travelling. Let me know your favourite places to check out local music or international acts in your city.
As a Melbournian I would have to say Festival Hall, The Toff, Ding Dong Lounge and the Corner Hotel would definitely make my list.

I have to recommend Fly by Night Club in Freo, WA! It's not mainstream kind of music but cool, intimate gigs in a decent size venue. You will find many a bar in the cultural Mecca of Freo that often showcase the local talent.... Mojo's Bar is another one.

If you are going to head "down south" in WA, Caves House Hotel in Yallingup holds live music events. Or there is Settlers Tavern in Margaret River?
Of course there are hundreds of wineries in this region that over the summer months are host to many a live music event.
Sun+beach+wine+music = perfection!
