Would you ever buy a house from the TV Show The Block?

Those houses are so old and dilapidated to start with. Why would anyone buy a piece of broken crockery which was glued back together and sold for a fortune?

Nah!! Those people dont have a CLUE what they are doing. I doubt it would pass any real objective building inspection.

Nope - never. The price would be so inflated because of the media hype surrounding it. Plus it was done under so much pressure, there's sure to be short cuts made to get the time line.

I'd only use proper builders not under such tight timeframes and pressures.

There are architects, interior designers, landscape architects and builders for a reason. If anyone has ever put a builder to a strict timeline then they have seen the quality of work decrease. Put Joe Blogs to a strict timeline and we may as well take on the backyard approach of "there is nothing duct tape and silicon cannot fix." This show devalues the whole industry and only one couple(team) and some TV executives benefit from it, make Jamie Durie look respectable.

Buildings deteriorate but land appreciates... These programs promote suburbs in a very positive light, and so if you have a proper Building and Pest inspection done then why not?

As long as you buy at a price you are happy with (after much research)... you should do well out of these properties.
