Mernda does NOT have a train line as yet. The state government have promised one however it won't be ready until 2019. A fairly regular bus service is available but not all bus stops have shelters so if it's raining take an umbrella. Mernda has the basic shops (Woolworths, Bakers Delight, Chemist Warehouse, two coffee shops) two dental clinics & a medical centre with pathology. New shops are under construction across the road from the pub. Mernda has good paths for walking and riding and lots of trees and a couple of playgrounds. There's a choice of 2 new public schools, the original public school and some private schools. Like many places people vary - there's inconsiderate and considerate. The infrastructure in terms of roads accessing Mernda suck! ! You may be sitting in traffic and can hit a kangaroo. The roads leading to Mernda will be double lanes and then it bottle necks. A trip into the city by car can take anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour.

The South Marang lines go through Mernda, the train station is a little tricky for parking if you are commuting to the CBD everyday.

The suburb is having a lot of redevelopment happening at the moment. Lots of modern properties but it also has its fair share of housing estates as well.
