"Vibrant Suburb for a great lifestyle so close to the CBD"

After living in Sydney and missing the atmosphere, Norwood provides a lot of what I miss it is a cool suburb with a lot of trendy cafes, bars and shops. Very close to the city and has plenty to do, yet with all this still has array of large trees and a very green suburb.
Yes parts of it can be busy and I note others have said it is a snobby suburb there is a bit of this but also a lot of great people.

"Great to visit, a bit too expensive for living."

Lived there for a year a little while back, would suggest it as a better location to go and visit for the cafés and shopping than as a place to live. Then again, if you're a student and you can sort out a couple of housemates, that does balance out the cost a bit.

"A Lovely Suburb Next to the City"

What can I say? Norwood is a beautiful suburb situated right next to the city. The price of living is rather high but it is Norwood. A mix of lovely old detached homes, apartments, townhouses and modern houses makes for a beautiful suburb. Traffic can get high at times but the back-streets tend to be quiet. I would not recommend living within a few hundred metres of pubs and clubs as the drunks pour out and get to work being louts (same as anywhere with a pub). Shopping options are a plenty. The Parade is home to many specialty shops and and a shopping centre which has the multi award-winning Norwood Foodland. Norwood is also home to the Norwood Redlegs Football Club allowing you to walk to home games. Norwood is a beautiful suburb for people that are prepared to pay the executive price.

"Over-rated"

You want to surround yourself with selfish snobs that look down their nose at you every chance you get? Then move to sunny Norwood. It'll only cost you a small fortune sucker.
As far as investments go, there are far better ones out there.

Don't get me wrong, the parade is perhaps the best place in Adelaide to stroll with casual shopping in mind, but you don't have to live there to enjoy it. The surrounding suburbs are much better value, ala Magill & Payneham.

I agree about how it is snobby but not to the same extent as say Burnside and the shops there. At their mall Almost every clothing label with some exceptions is a designer label.

"Noisy and unsafe"

We rented a townhouse there for a couple of years on what we thought would be a quiet street. We were frequently woken on Friday and Saturday nights by all sorts of cars revving and the usual neanderthaloid activities and actions associated with drunk people after visiting the pubs.

Plenty of busses go to the city, but often they are already full by the time they get to Norwood, so although busses come every few mins, sometimes you wait 20 mins for one which will let you on.

We moved out of the area after being robbed several times. The drug rehabilitation clinics in the area have created a high crime rate which the local authorities seem to have become accepting to.

"Amazing suburb with a lot to offer."

Norwood is one of the premier suburbs of Adelaide and with good reason. There is a good blend of houses here making it great for everyone. From the large old homes on big blocks to townhouses and smaller units and apartments. All of which are well maintained.

There are plenty of places to eat around Norwood, especially along the Parade and you can get out to see a movie. There is a ten pin bowling venue in Norwood which is great and I think still does disco bowling.

There are plenty of shops around Norwood so you can easily get what you need.

Public transport services the area well and it is a really short trip into the city. You could easily walk it and it is a pleasant walk.

With so much on offer, Norwood is a great suburb, but it is popular on the weekends for a night out so in some places can get a little noisy.

It’s also expensive and so despite the fact that there is a house for everyone, everyone wants one and the prices are high.

"Great coffee, shopping, dining and recreation, and just minutes from the CBD"

Norwood is the perfect spot for the professional couple, looking for a great lifestyle just moments from the Adelaide CBD.

With many modern townhouses, renovated cottages and large homes, homes in Norwood can be expensive to buy but still quite reasonable to rent. Great for lifestyle, and you're only 20 minutes from the Adelaide Hills and 20 minutes from the beach.

Running through the heart of the suburb is the fabulous Norwood Parade which has absolutely everything from Italian cafés and great coffee, supermarkets, huge cinema complex, clothing and shoe stores, pharmacies, banks, post office, doctors and so the list goes on. There are a number of beautifully renovated pubs offering delicious food at quite reasonable prices, including the Bath and the Robin Hood.

Travelling to the CBD is very easy. Just a 10 minute drive to the heart of the city (closer to 20 minutes in peak hour), or otherwise just catch one of the frequent buses on the Parade and you'll be there in about 15 minutes. Parking can be difficult in the streets close to the Parade.

The surrounding streets are perfect for walking/jogging, and there are a few good gyms just a short drive away.

Offering a wonderful lifestyle just a stone’s throw from the city, Norwood has it all.
