"Wonderful place to live"

Just moved from Melbourne with a young family. Such a great place to bring up a family, and loving the new warmer lifestyle. PW is a Beautiful place that allows you the headspace and time to appreciate the water, fishing, swans, pelicans, beach, sunsets, walks, schools, exercise and still close enough for good food and melbourne like shopping in Maroochydore. Even the coffee choices are on the up. Its been 9 months and we wont be going back south, apart for the Nov racing season!

"No bad traffic problem YET!!"

A lot of baby boomers/empty nesters are heading for this area it's not the cheapest place on the coast but the local development Manager are not trying to squeeze you onto a sub 300sqm block and it's still only within 15 minutes drive to at least 7 different types of beaches and waterways there will be a decent size retail centre built within the next 3-5years with marina style aspect that will attract some big price tags overall I love living in this environment it makes me feel I should be getting out and making the most of it locally.

"Peaceful area"

Pelican Waters is a lovely, quiet area to live but unfortunately it is in danger of losing its shopping centre. Many shops have closed in the 4 years I have lived here (bakery, kitchen shop, hairdresser, Sam's Warehouse, Subway, fruit and vege shop, and seafood shop), with very few shops now trading. There are two supermarkets but not much else. The centre management which runs Pelican Waters Shopping Village doesn't seem to give a damn about our suburb and the number of retailers the centre has lost. Apparently rents in the centre are astronomical which is the cause of the closure of so many retailers. The centre desperately needs another food outlet as there is only one cafe which is overpriced. Public transport is almost non-existent as there is one bus per hour to Caloundra - that's all.

"A little too Gold Coast tacky for my liking"

Man-made canals have never been my thing. Still a very nice place for retirees.

"A pleasant suburb and bogan free"

Quiet and pleasant. Well designed and a strong and growing sense of community. Lots of empty houses though, maybe holiday homes or bought for investment only. Lots of green space. Very safe. Like living in the fifties in the best sense possible.

"Excellent place for young families"

The great private school in Pelican Waters, access to outdoor recreational facilities and local shopping centre make this a very enjoyable and easy place to live. Houses around the golf course are nice and quiet and allow access to the golf course for early morning walks with the kangaroos - beautiful.

"A very modern area with man made canals and access for small boats out to sea."

A lot of thought has gone into planning Pelican Waters and it is a very modern city with some lovely canal homes, upmarket hotel accommodation, shopping centre, golf course and other facilities. The area is protected by Bribie Island which means that boating is popular and so too, are other water sports in the Bribie Passage.

Being so close to Caloundra it is a great place to bring up a family, especially a teenage family, lots of room and things to do.

To get to Pelican Waters you access from Caloundra through Golden Beach.

It is still in the growing stage so at the moment one has to drive back through Caloundra to get access to the Bruce Highway. When the estate is complete there will be access directly out to the Bruce Highway and this will cut about 20 mins off the drive to Brisbane.
