"Great up and coming suburb close to everything"
Great up and coming suburb close to everything, with the new Kardinya shopping centre it's even better.
I go for walks late at night time and always feel safe and see others out who say hello.
Great neighbourhood and community feel.

Where in Coolbellup is this? Been here for years and also haven't seen this. Are you sure it's just not someone with a mental illness? (Which is in every suburb)

"Awesome location, leafy and improving every day."
It's location between the Perth CBD and Freo is just brilliant, with the beach in Coogee just beyond your doorstep. I feel that this place is developing nicely and is and will continue to be a great little suburb into the future.

"Leafy, affordable and close to Freo."
Coolbellup is leafy suburb with plenty of small parks around the place. It is relatively quiet as there is no through traffic but has good bus routes and is close to the freeway and train station. Location is great: about 5km from Southbeach and Freo, 2km from Murdoch Uni. Land price is very affordable and good value for the average block size. You only have to cross Stock or Winterfold rd's to see house prices increase on average $80,000 - 100,000 for a similar house. The bad reputation Cooby has had in the past from State Housing tenants is slowly changing as more people realise the place is a great Investment and very livable.

"A great place to start"
First homeowners can get a good combination here of land and property - so for those who want more than just an alfresco, Coobie is a good place to look! We have bought, renovated and have enjoyed living here for the last two years (rather than living another 25kms south to be able to stick to our budget).Great place to buy and add value if you are a tradie or good at DIY as lots of older properties built of permanent materials. We have tripled our equity/investment in our time here which is appealing if you are jumping on the first rung of the property ladder. Great place if you are an avid gardener or want to grow your own veggies etc - our neighbours even have chooks!!
Shopping leaves bit to be desired but I find that we are close enough to Freo and other centres that it is not an issue (plus Coles and Woolies deliver bless them). Security is important - we have lights / alarm /padlocked gates etc and is good to make security measures visible as a deterrent. We have been careful but have had no problems.

"Cheap, pleasant and very affordable, but get dogs!"
Good affordable place, close to IGAs, Coles, pharmacy and other commercial centres. Good public transport, especally around the main roads (Winterfold, Waverly, Coolbellup Ave, Cordelia etc). Ideal for Murdoch students (5min by car, 20min by bus). However we have been broken into 3 times in 2 years. Kids, opportunistic walk-ins, forcing window etc... No major losses but still very scary. It appears to be very opportunistic, so burglar bars/security screens are a necessity. If you can, pick a quiet cul-de-sac as opposed to the major streets surrounding the shops. Big dogs and several housemates/family members with varying timetables (so the house is seldom empty) would definitely be a plus.

Not sure where this person is referring to but we built a property here 12 years ago and have never come across any bad behaviour or reason to feel uncomfortable. It is brilliantly located for access to Freo, the freeway, Murdoch Uni and the hospitals. Kardinya shopping centre is 5 minutes away and Garden City 10 minutes. Never looked back.
