Reviews of Mango Hill, QLD
"Great Family Friendly Suburb"
We moved up from West of Sydney 18 months ago and we ended up purchasing in Mango Hill! It is in the perfect location, being close to North Lakes and the Shopping Centre there. There are two train stations in Mango Hill, with its own shopping centre consisting of Coles, Subway, Bakers Delight and more! It has amazing Daycare Centres in the area, a Great Lake to walk the kids with their bikes with around and it has a great feel. It is away from the hustle and is so easy to access the Motorway too!

"Modern community"
I lived here before the newer infrastructure, rail link and shopping outlets were built. It was fairly peaceful, lots of wildlife and family orientated. The newer facilities have definitely improved the area and it’s proximity to North Lakes and the highway make it attractive. Smaller properties have added diversity in age groups to the area. Small blocks in newer parts, good schools, some crime mainly break-ins. Slightly more expensive than North Lakes. 8/10.

"I am trying to find friends for myself in mango hill and north lakes area. I have 2 kids, 3 and 1. If anyone interested in making friends please msg"
.
Look up Moreton Bay Flood Maps and type in the address of any home ur looking at. It will give you a free Report to download.
"Love living in capestone"
This estate has come a long way from being a bush land to a very safe and convenient place to live in. You have access two train stations (one in the estate itself), access to private and quality state schools, churches, lots of eating out places, beaches within12 minutes drive, access to parks lakes and for shopping north lakes is a stone throw away. Sure prices have skyrocketed because of all these, but quality of life comes at a price. It's no wonder Mango hill was among top five most favorite destinations to move in into Brisbane.

"Good turning bad"
I moved to Mango hill in 2014 for my son to start prep at the mango hill SS the following year. The area was beautiful and quiet especially for families. In the last few years it has started to go down hill. “Gang” type youths around, school is so large now it’s easy for students to get lost in the system. There are allot of townhouses around which in my experience attracts so many drug addicts which is bringing the area down. The break ins are far too common now and even recently a drive by shooting. In my opinion the crime and decline in the area started when the train stations opened up. Allowing easier access for druggos and idiots to the area.
It was far more safe and quiet before the accessibility to every Tom dick and Harry.
"LOVE IT!"
Mango Hill is an awesome suburb to live in. It has great facilities and everything is super close; which is very convenient. They is always something to do!!! Mango Hill is slowly rising in population which is great to see. It has lovely modern houses that suit growing families to a tee. It is a friendly community where kindness is valued. It has affordable housing which is very important. It has great schools and the environment in maintained beautifully. I truly think that Mango Hill is the perfect place to live.

"You get everything in this suburb"
Moved to mango hill capstone about a year ago, love this suburb! Its close to everything you need = markets, parks, lakes, train stations, Westfield, ikea, Costco, local stores, public schools, private schools, tennis court, swimming facilities, restaurants, gyms, local businesses AND new development undergoing . It’s the only suburb in Brisbane that I can find 5 basketball courts!
You literally get anything you need in this suburb. About 30 min drive to Brisbane city with good traffic but who need to travel to Brisbane if you can get everything in your area apart for work reasons ? 15min drive to redcliff beach area, 1 hour drive to Sunshine Coast area!
The property price is still reasonable but I doubt it will stay this way in 5 years time. The bad things about this place = mosquitos during summer/ bad traffic at peak period
It’s really a good place for family to raise kids.

"Horrid"
I don't see the appeal of this place at all? I had friends from here visit me in Townsville and they were amazed at how beautiful it is up here and have made plans to move, seriously. They feel like they were "conned" into Mango Hill and felt unsatisfied with life their.
"Great lifestyle location"
Mango hill is a great suburb. It’s clean, green, quiet & safe with a choice of public & private schools and 2 train stations. Lots of areas to explore including the lake and trail walks.. we are spoiled for choice in shopping with Bunnings x 2, Ikea, Costco & Westfield all nearby.. great restaurants, Coffee shops & pubs.. the only downside are the big black birds who raid your rubbish bins given half a chance.. property is good.. you get a lot of house for your dollar compared to Brisbane or the coast. Commute via car to Brisbane in peak hour can take 1-1.5 hours but on the weekend it’s 30 minutes. Commute up the coast is 40min - 1 hour.. neighbours are friendly and look out for each other.. diversity is high and I was proud my whole street was on the driveway for ANZAC day.

"Safe, trendy, quite, family oriented, close to Westfield & train"
Nice, green and prestigious. The all new high school is ready to be open soon with the high rated state school. Has two train stations and funny how North lakes relies on Mango Hill's train station. Still has Coles, tavern, 7-eleven and few more shops, the lake is also beautiful... Good place to raise a family and houses are nice and new.

Please give me more information about any good area in Mango hill. I am looking to buy but don't know about area, school and other facilities. It would be great help.
The best place in Mango Hill without a shadow of a doubt is Halpine Lake - 2 minutes to primary school, 2 minutes to secondary school, 2 minutes to Coles and Food shops, 2.5-3 minutes to Westfields and Shopping Hub and 2 minutes to train station..... With homes on hills so no flood issues to think about..... Perfection...
"Great Place to live"
Mango Hill is great for families, with Mango Hill state school and St Benedicts nearby, as well as the new high school being made its just overall a nice place, with shops nearby and many parks. Although, its becoming overpopulated and too many houses are being built in Capestone, and there's not much greenery anymore, and lots of mosquitos.

"Love Mango Hill!!"
We moved here 9 months ago in the Capestone development and absolutely love it! It is new, clean and green and people are friendly. Schools, shopping centre, restaurants and train are all very close. Mozzies in summer can be a bit of a hassle but nothing fly screens and insect repellent can't fix. Poor mobile reception is the only real issue I have here but surely this will be fixed someday soon..? I would happily live here for the rest of my life.

"Had a lovely rural feel but council continue to add new housing, and no infrastructure."
A lovely friendly neighbourhood close to the shops of North Lakes, which still have pockets that feel rural, With Kangaroos, koalas and a goat farm. The disappointing thing is Moreton Bay council continue to let developers build high density townhouses and apartments and then complains there is no room for a High School, a fire station, not enough parking at train stations or any money for police. Shame on Moreton Bay council will ruin this suburb.

"Family oriented suburb"
I live here, it is a very friendly and family-oriented suburb. MHE train station is just walking distance. Private and public schools just walking distance, walking distance and also a public bus service to Mango Hill Supermarkets and Restaurants, Westfield Shopping Center, IKEA, and COSTCO. Also, 5 minutes to Redcliffe Restaurants and Parks and public swimming pool. Easy to get into the M! towards Airport, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast.

Yes it is a great suburb for families. Great facilities and public transportation
"Boganville - Mango Hill"
Mango Hill is surrounded by bad areas and I've never seen so many bogan's in my life. The usual, ute driving, drag racing bogan's who look like they have just got out of bed and speak in their bogan language. I moved here from Sydney, as visually it looks fine and rent for a house was reasonable, whilst was looking for a house to buy. I quickly realised what a mistake I had made moving to what is, a low socioeconomic area. My new house is almost ready in Hendra and can't wait to escape this place ! If you looking to move to Brisbane, stick to a 15km radius from the city (north side or very inner ring south side) as these are very nice areas with nice, 'normal' people. Hendra, Clayfield, Ascot, Hamilton and close surrounds are nice areas in particular.
It does take some time to adjust, moving from Sydney. What you consider "Normal people" will nosedive in coming years
Not sure what you are on about. I moved to Capestone in Mango Hill 9 months ago and I am absolutely loving it. Neighbours are friendly, area is new and clean, all infrastruture is there and the development is still growing, shopping is 5mins away, restaurants are 5 mins away. Have seen no low socioeconomic situations AT ALL or bogans. Hendra and all those suburbs you mentioned are where all the overpriced houses are and if you bought recently, you paid too much. It won't go up again by that much in the near future since the housing market is slowing down. All in all you sound like an out of touch snob.
"If you looking to move to Brisbane, stick to a 15km radius from the city (north side or very inner ring south side) as these are very nice areas with nice, 'normal' people. Hendra, Clayfield, Ascot, Hamilton and close surrounds are nice areas in particular." Great advice assuming you have in excess of $750K to buy a home with, which is generally not the budget required at Mango Hill.
Its horrible, Im glad I left, people from the city like to have a go at regional areas as being Bogan yet Brisbane has the biggest concentration ever, I moved to NQ and guess what I found.. not that many Bogans compared to Brisbane.
Anyone who has to be so offensive in labelling others with such distain must have a seriously distorted opinion of themselves, which from my experiences could only come from insecurities deep inside.
Glad you moved out so whoever lives there, doesn't have to put up with someone hating on them so much. Perhaps a more constructive review of the suburb would have sufficed, other than bagging others for having less money and a different way of living.
"Affordable and close to everything you need"
Great area, close to North lakes shopping, and easy access to Redcliffe beach. Can pop up to sunshine coast for the day no problem.
Trainline is the best way to get into Brisbane on weekdays, as traffic on Bruce highway is bad. The only things this area is lacking is some high quality dining. Its all sports clubs and chain restaurants, and there is no no- religious private schools. (but very few places do)

Is it a good suburb to invest in with strong capital growth? Especially in the capestone region?
Yes and soon the government will be building a University about 10 minutes away. I bought an investment property there recently and looking for quality tenants was easy
Excellent to hear! Thank you for your response. I too have recently purchased land in Capestone and building a 4B. Glad to know tenants are of great quality and easy to rent out. May we both enjoy the long term growth prospects ahead. Cheers
The 32km distance to the city puts a price cap on this area. Most "professionals" are not going to commute this distance. I moved here from Sydney recently as visually looks fine (and I work from home), but I've discovered is a low social economic area with a lot of bogan's living here.. very downmarket...I've just bought a house in a nice city suburb, Hendra (nice houses with tree lined streets and nice 'normal' people). House prices around that area have gone up 40% in 5 years, compared to this area which prices have gone up 25% last 5 years....and from my experience here, I put this down to the distance from the city AND the kind of low socioeconomic people this area attracts with their lower incomes. I believe growth in Mango hill and surrounds will stay lower, where as the city suburbs will continue to boom and grow at a faster pace.
Average house prices have only gone up in Hendra in the last 5 years because a lot of the original homes have been flattened and blocks have been split in to 2 med-high end quality homes. North Lakes / Mango Hill was never a dilapidated suburb like Hendra, It's brand new, and priced so. The margin for growth isnt there.. Unless you move close to the river, you can't escape the "bogans" in Brisbane.
"Coming soon! Check for Internet!"
Mango Hill is the next boomtown, its close to the city but still holds that rural escape feel. Depending on where you choose to live that is! Choose carefully just like every other suburb in Brisbane!
Things to consider:
-Lots of new rentals particularly ones with NO INTERNET. (Explained further at end) some have Fibre nbn, some have nothing as copper phonelines are no longer connected to internet ports!
-Loads of young people and their first rental! Sucks!!!(Noise, smoke, rubbish, loud arguments, p plater cars etc!) But a simple kind request is more than appreciated by all of the ones near us. They mostly seem kind, hardworking/ employed! Not doll thank god.
-Swarm proportions of mosquitoes closer to swamp areas backing onto murrumba downs etc.
-Rat maze of streets to get back onto main roads. Supposedly to stop traffic thoroughfare....
-Highway noise, to be honest Im a light sleeper and can see the highway off in the distance but cannot hear it.
-Swamp Gas smell! This terrible dead odour lingers in the air! Sometimes there, sometimes not. It gets to the point where it smells like an outdoor toilet!
-Upcoming noise from trainline and atributed longer teaffic delays due to stupid installation of more poorly planned and timed trafficlights!
-GPS issues due to so many new streets and estates being established. However a quick report to google maps is quick and easy!
-bus routes...Most areas complete blackspots! We can see 3 trainstations from our balcony but cannot get to one using public transport! And due to the mozzies its a terrible walk, having to bathe in repellents!
-Generally one of the nicer suburbs, its a short trip to the city, or the coast. new shops and superstores popping up almost weekly. Ikea and kmart coming 2016, costco, bigw, coles, woolies, Event cinemas, plenty of trendy eats, bars, plenty of womens shops, plenty of caryards, hardware and males shops.
Personal experiences: apart from an overly loud nymphomaniac woman somewhere around tattler street? yes the noise carries! strange smoke, tobacco smoke an idiot or two with Harleys its not too bad especially considering the superclose location of neighbours.
-Telstra 3/4g Coverage is good, LTE -70dbm to -108dbm and GSM consistent -87dbm.
-TV/FM/AM reception is excellent, you will generally not need a signal amplifier.
-Natural gas is available most areas.
-Stable electricty supply no interruptions previous 10months.
-Fibre to the premisis in new builds! But beware developer promises if its not allready connected to the estate/ street
Re: Internet Face it, Its basically an essential service akin to Power and Water!
Some/most areas particularly new areas are in an NBN zone. This means either future or existing infrastructure is coming or existing.
This can be a blessing or a right pain in the butt, due to the nbn presence ADSL via the normal telephone line isnt available! Providers will not give you it as they see nbn presence. Dont assume you will be special and allowed to connect to thw pots (old copper telephone adsl)
Check the nbn rollout map and if your worried knock on a door and ask also ring multiple nbn suppliers and ask :)
-Dont believe real estate agents! One particular estate targeted at young people with pets was developed with NO internet infrasturcture (NBN cable) in the ground to the estate!

"A hill lacking infrastructure and planning"
Mango hill holds promise but as part of the planned North Lakes community it is lacking plenty in infrastructure (the train line is coming) and social options (only a few places to eat out but the parks are nice). What it is not lacking in is new houses filled with commuters to clog up the Bruce Highway. This is a suburb that is all dressed up with nowhere to go.

"Tales of 2 reviews"
This is a fantastic place to live for so many reasons, lots of parks, access to public facilities, more and more shopping options and access to beaches, wineries and the hinterland only 20-40 mins drive away.
On the other hand, if your planning to commute by car to Brisbane then be prepared for regular 20+ km tailbacks. If you are hoping to enjoy your lovely back garden then be prepared to be bitten by mozzies for 4-6 months of the year.
The council is forward thinking and the 2 issues above are being actively improved but it won't be better for a number of years.

"Very nice friendly feel for us expats"
We have lived here on Mango Hill for the last five years and have seen this area grow to a very friendly family place,We live on Halpine Lake development Mango Hill and do love the ability to have shops and bush around us.
With the new proposed rail link going in it will make this area even better for transport to the city and more people will want to live here. The area is having loads of money spent on it with the new school being built on Mango Hill so again it will help families live or migrate to the area.
We as British expats love the friendly feel and the way your neighbours will say hello and stand and talk,it makes us feel as we are in a safe place with our children.
If there are any persons thinking of moving/buying here all i can say is you will LOVE IT

"Peaceful, yet close to everything!"
Mango Hill Village has that delightful village atmosphere ...Friendly neighbours, peaceful living, a sense of safety and the knowledge that there would always be someone around to help you if you were in need. Taking a walk around the leafy neighbourhood we almost always happen upon kangaroos, koalas, kookaburras or parrots enjoying their beautiful habitat.
All this and yet only 5 minutes from a thriving Westfield shopping and business hub. With many upgrades in the works Mango Hill has limitless potential.
I can honesty say I hope we never have to leave this unique piece of paradise!

"Excellent across the board!"
Have recently moved up from Victoria and the entire family is enjoying the amenities of North Lakes. With the walking/bike paths, sports fields, play equipment, and the golf, what else do you need for a growing family. Westfield Mall is excellent and has every store you could possibly want to get your shopping done. Yes, there is a little traffic on Discovery Drive during peak hour but this will be mostly eliminated once the new road by the Night Owl is opened, and it is about due to be opened! We find the neighborhood to be safe and clean and the neighbors to be nice! Seems to be a good melting pot of different Nationalities in North Lakes as well...which is what we want for our children. We are very happy with our move to North Lakes, we only wish we would have moved up here sooner!

"New Farm for straight people on the northside"
If you're a fan of roundabouts, then Discovery Drive is for you.
North Lakes (Mango Hill west) is a 'planned community' by Stockland on the Brisbane's northside to rival southside's Springfield Lakes by Delfin. The houses are new and large, but fall into the McMansion trap at times, and yard sizes are minuscule.
The attitude in the area seems to be that if you can't get to it in five minutes, it isn't worth having. This mirrors the mood in New Farm being so wonderfully close to 'everything', and anything two suburbs or more away is in the bush.
Westfield North Lakes is a nice touch, but a nightmare to get to since there is just one entrance to it from Memorial Drive off Anzac Avenue (unless you're coming down from the north on Bruce Highway). Then once you get in from Memorial Drive, do laps through limited parking out the front to see if there are any spaces, or eventually make your way to the back where car parking is more plentiful. This should have been better thought-out from the start by the developer and Westfield.
Public transport is atrocious, but this is thanks to state government inaction -- a railway line has been planned for nearby for more than 100 years. The nearest train station is Petrie, but it is busy enough already (how do you get there? Drive of course, or a rare bus). Unlike older, established suburbs, the roads are quite narrower so you have to park on the footpath or risk being scalded by a local resident reading the riot act if you dare park on the road the traditional way (there are an actual set rules that cover this, apparently). Parking on the footpath takes away the reason for the word "foot" in the name.
These types of suburbs are popular with new families, but when you take into consideration the lacking public transport and that these families have probably two cars, then the kids will grow-up and eventually have their own car each... be prepared for more vehicles having to park somewhere. They won't necessarily be rusted wrecks that don't go anywhere as features on front yards, it will be an issue.
North Lakes is now ten years old. It is still nice now, but keep in mind what happens as communities get older and bigger (Stockland expect it to eventually house 25,000 people). The new developments in Mango Hill across the other side of Anzac Avenue isn't any better. The artificial lakes are also nice, however it is a shame the singing ducklings from their television commercials in the 2000s aren't there anymore.

As I've discovered, is far from being a "New Farm". I moved here from Sydney as visually looks fine, but the people are very downmarket...low socioeconomic area....so many ute driving, drag racing bogans who walk around like they have just got out of bed. My new house is almost ready at Hendra and I can't wait to escape Mango Hill....I would recommend anyone moving to Brisbane to buy max. 15kms from the city. There are some really nice city suburb areas, such as Hendra, Ascot, Clayfield, Hamilton - tree lined streets, nice houses, with nice 'normal' people. ...and only a 15 min drive to the city and less than 5 mins drive to racecourse road with nice cafes, bars or riverside parks etc. There are also so many nice restaurants, cafes, bars etc around the city areas, where as in Mango Hill/North Lakes, there are very few and the shops are not very exciting either.

"Land size"
The land size are approaching 250m^2. This is very small and requires two storybuildings. It is still much better than living in a flat (High density building) and it is affordable for young couples who want to get into the market at a very good location close to shops and schools.
The other problem is mobile phone coverage and internet supply. I do not know if the developers (Stockland) are responsible but they have made very little attempt to provide good services and coverage. I can not use my Telstra connected iPhone and ther is not ADSL 2 available unless you want to use Telstra. This is not acceptable for a new develpment. You find this out only after yopu have moved in

Can you please explain what you mean by no flooding? Im a Canadian looking at finding a rental in the area and the idea of flooding is really intimidating. Are there certain areas in Mango Hill where there is less flood risk? Id love some advice!
