Queenstown, TAS 7467

After all the helpful comments on this site we finally moved to Queenstown.
The locals are very friendly and welcoming to new residents too. Most people know each other which is nice, actually knowing my neighbors who regularly bring us fresh garden produce.
The Council does a great job working with the community to provide and maintain services. We didn't realise there were so many service available in Queenstown as most of the business and community events are only seen through Facebook.
There are some great schools in Queenstown and the business actually care about their customers. The West Coast Hospital in Queenstown also has great service, much more than we initially thought.
I almost forgot to mention there are heaps of cafes, restaurants and even a few taverns.

We were lucky enough to purchase a property recently in Queenstown before the property market went crazy. Luckily there are so many investment opportunities , more so many business opportunities.
Whilst there is a diverse range of local business I have realised there is huge market potential for new business.
Local residents just don't seem to realise how easy it is to obtain a job locally and purchase a house. Mortgage repayments are only $160 per week and the investment yield can range from 8% - 16%.
The West Coast is an amazing place, the locals are friendly and it is such a unique environment.

Queenstown Tasmania is abundant in rugged untouched beauty.
The town itself is nestled in a valley at the bottom on Mount Owen and is home to about 2500 residents.
With the progression of the town more business and services are becoming available, making the town more livable and great place to invest in property.
Going against what others have said the price of local produce, goods and services are very reasonably priced.
There is so much to do from hiking, fishing, mountain biking, hang-gliding, dirt bike and 4wd trails, diving, visiting long forgotten towns and mines or even spending a relaxing day reading a book by the warmth of a fire.

Queenstown is an old but cute town located 2 hours south of Burnie. I firstly mention Burnie as, like others have recommended, shopping online or up the coast if somewhat essential. Whilst Queenstown does have the local shops and amenities you require they are expensive. E.g, Food can be very expensive as can the local marketplace. The only hairdresser in town is always to busy for a booking that week and they are horrible at men's hair.
If you have children the local schools are not that great as their policies are old and misandrists.
The hiking is amazing, local BMX is fantastic and there are a plethora of 4wd and dirt bike tracks around too.

Properties are very cheap but get a building inspector before you buy, DON'T BUY A HOUSE WITHOUT VIEWING. THE REAL ESTATE CAN AND DOES USE OLD HOUSE PHOTOS TO MAKE THEM LOOK BETTER and any DIY renovations get from Bunnings as locally is extremely expensive.

Not a happy place to live

At first my wife and I were skeptic all about retiring in Queenstown, however the move has made us more financially stable so we can enjoy spending more time gardening, hiking and traveling around Tasmania.
Whilst Winter does last for 5 months Spring, Summer and Autumn are perfect. Food deliveries from Burnie in conjunction with our green house make living in Queenstown extremely affordable.

Queenstown is a beautiful small little town that has a variety of business to make life still enjoyable. Whilst the lifestyle is relaxed, business are still growing and strong.
Winters are stunning with snow capped mountain ranges and easily access to the snow less than 30 minutes away. Summers are amazing with warm tepid temperatures.
Queenstown is surrounded by huge lakes that offer picturesque camping locations and great fishing with a multitude of boat ramps. There are ample allocated hunting areas that offer a variety of game along with visible and hidden 4wd tracks.
The best kept secret in Queenstown is the hidden waterfalls and springs located very close to the town. The locals tend to keep them a secret though upon hiking the magnificent forests we came across beautiful hidden swimming springs.

We recently moved to Queenstown from a larger city as we were sick of paying huge mortgage rates and living costs. We purchased a three bedroom house in Queenstown for only $110,000 that need very little work. Our monthly repayments are only $400! Rates, water and general costs are just as cheap allowing us to save a lot of money and eventually invest in another property.
Our children attend a catholic school that doesn't push religion on them and has great regional score results.
Like others have mentioned the snow capped mountains and hiking trails are great and cradle mountain is only a short 45 minute drive.
There is a growing number of local restaurants and cafes making the social scene comfortable and accommodating.

Queenstown has all the amenities you could require. Excellent child care services, modern library and research hubs and a great sense of community spirit.

Queenstown is a beautiful little town reminiscent of a small country life. The endless nature walks and hikes truly show off Tasmania's wondrous natural beauty.
The northern end of Queenstown is more touristy, with its shops, parks, restaurants and accommodation, whilst the southern end of Queenstown is residential country living surrounded by boundless mountains of pine trees with spectacular view of the breathtaking Mount Owen.
