Blue Haven, NSW 2262

I bought a House in Blue Haven 4 years ago and really love the place. I have 4 kids .
There are numerous sports teams in the region and Blue Haven Public School was awarded best primary school of the year government at the Australian education awards.
My neighbours are great and its close to the freeway which is ideal for me travelling to work.
You also have beaches not to far away

Having been a Blue Haven resident for almost 30 years, I have seen the area grow from one road in and out to a large suburb on the Central Coast.
I have seen many changes, and like any suburb, the more people who live there, the more likely you will find problems popping up. I must say, that in my years here, problems are far and few. We have our own Dr Surgery, Aldi, Parks, Daycares and Primary School to mention just a few things. We also have Coles within a couple of minutes drive, not to mention, only minutes to the Freeway to head north or south in no time. Unlike other areas on the coast where some will drive almost 1hr before they get near the highway!!

Then there are the beaches and lakes! Views around this part of the coast are amazing. Lots of parks and places to take the kids, or to just relax, and all within a reasonable driving distance. For the younger children Blue Haven has some great playgrounds, and then for the teenagers, beach and lake is only a bike ride away. And for the adults, well, there is even more like our local Clubs, Doyalson RSL and our Local Tavern, have great meals at a great price!

The older part of Blue Haven has been a little neglected by the council in terms of curb and guttering if that is a deal-breaker for you, however, where there is no curb and guttering, there is also very little traffic, so there are the pros and cons to think about there.

I built my first house in Birdwood Drive, then moved out of the street to another location in Blue Haven, and then found my way back to Birdwood again, and have no intentions on going anywhere. This is paradise to me, and if you look at the suburb as being the same as most, take the good with the bad, every suburb has it, then you will love our little spot of paradise on the coast as well!

We’re a young family and have been in Blue Haven for just over 12 months. It’s not as terrible as some say but it’s far from nice. Our house backs onto the main road across from Coles and it’s a constant array of sirens and car hoons.

The graffiti is terrible and my street was recently the target of an immature act where some deros spray painted almost every car in the street.
My husbands number plates were stolen front and back about 4 months ago.
The local shops (north lakes) are average, some interesting characters around- the bottle shop and tavern with ‘bikini babe Friday’s’ add to this.

All that aside, the footpaths are great and I take my daughter riding everyday down the pond where we feed the ducks. Very close to freeway. A lot of nice retired neighbours. Beach at Norah Head nice and not too far from Caves Beach too.

Overall it does feel very far away from other entertainment for us (activities for my daughter are usually 20-45 min drive away; being Tuggerah, The Entrance, Erina and Gosford.)

Our daughter is 4 and we’re really nervous about sending her local school in a year as we hear some of the very colourful langauage the passing by children have in uniform.
I also met a lady recently who pulled both her children out of Blue Haven primary and put them into a private school so it’s a bit nerve wrecking to think about.

If you have a choice the other end of the coast is much nicer but a lot more expensive (Forresters Beach, Wamberal, Umina, Bateau Bay, Toowoon Bay).

My family moved to blue haven in 2013, I was a little bit reluctant as I had heard stories of it being a "troublesome place", I searched for information on the area and there were conflicting views. I have to say since living here I have found it so quiet, neighbours are friendly and the local primary school is wonderful, I have high expectations of schools my kids have always been in private schools, my youngest went to blue haven public whilst on the waiting list to go to the private school, when she was accepted I was reluctant to move her, the local high school have wonderful teachers, my son has special needs and attends Northlakes high school, some of the kids are a bit challenging in the main stream area but the teachers have a lot of support to deal with this, and are doing a wonderful job to help the kids. I live in the older section and I have not witnessed any problems apart from p platers doing the odd burnout especially if it's been raining, the other thing that bugs me is the amount if graffiti the council could improve this. There could be a lot worse things to complain about, I highly recommend this area and with developments being put through council I have no doubt blue haven will only get better.

I believe Blue Haven has great Pre Schools and Public Schools, Community Centre and a recently completed Shopping Centre & Tavern 5 minutes away with an Aldi being constructed in 2013.

We like the 10 minutes drive from Blue Haven to the Beach, Fishing and local RSL.

Only down fall I believe is the lack of entertainment for kids / teenagers. Travel to Tuggerah by Bus or Car is their only option.

In saying that I have witnessed the local junior rugby league club Blue Haven Raiders become a force within the Central Coast. My wife & I venture down to Blue Haven Oval and thoroughly enjoy watching the kids play on a Saturday. From what I have read on their website Blue Haven has been around since 2007.

In closing, no matter were you reside there is always going to be a tiny minority that spoil it for the rest, we have viewed this young suburb develop and grow into a lovely environment.

I have been a resident in the old area for 5 years. In this time I have had my fence bashed down twice and my bins burnt to the ground my hoons. I regularly witness excessive speeding on Lady Laurel Drive. However the new area of Blue Haven is not as bad. I would not recommend the local San Remo Shops. This would be a great spot for an investor as it offers close to F3 access and has its own schools and good public transport.

My wife and I built in Blue Haven as a first home. Our intention was that is was just a first home, but we have now stayed for 10years and are bringing up our family in Blue Haven.
We live in a cul de sac and have wonderful neighbours, all of the kids in the street play together and mums chat.
Blue Haven is centrally located to shops, parks, the freeway and beaches.
For those that are unfamilar with the suburb it includes an older area (built circa 1980's) that is tucked away at the bottom near the river and a younger area that was built late 1990's to early 00's. The vast bulk of the housing is in the younger section. Unlike most of the Central Coast almost the entire suburb is curbed and guttered.
I can describe myself as a coastie having lived in over 10 suburbs in the Central Coast and Blue Haven is definatley the best. I recommend it to anyone.

In contrast to all the glowing reviews about how Blue Haven is an idyllic location, may I suggest that you introduce yourself to your potential neighbours to find out if there are problems with vandalism, burnouts, smashed bottles, fireworks, kicked-in fences, vandalised mailboxes, domestic disputes, etc. first. Since, we have experienced all of those problems after living here around the mid point of McKellar Boulevard. But hey, I reckon if we'd got a house 10 houses south of where we are, it'd be great!

So, just pick a good location and I'm sure you'll be fine!

Blue Haven has to be one of the fastest growing suburbs within the northern area of the Central Coast. The local pre-schools and public school are of the highest standard.

Recently, a Community Centre, Coles shopping centre and tavern was constructed and we are 15 minutes from the railway.

Beaches, Lakes and many other activities are located within minutes of Blue Haven.

I know our family never want to leave?
