"Don’t bother having anything nice"

My visit today, Sunday October 18, was completely ruined as I returned to my vehicle that was parked in Doyne St to discover some lout had stuck a sticker on the rear. A brand new vehicle that had a professional ceramic coat applied in Melbourne before it arrived in Tasmania now needs the rear professionally cleaned and re ceramic coated. My vehicles surveillance cameras picked up the lout and his mate. So, I will now go looking for them to have Tasmania Police charge him with tampering or interfering with a motor vehicle without consent under Section 37I of the Police Offences Act 1935. At the same time I will take him to Court to recoup costs, plus make it my mission to out him to his employer and to all social media outlets once charged. Launceston don’t bother owning anything nice as locals can’t keep their sticky fingers to themselves no wonder Tasmania is so backwards and inbred.

"Room for improvement"

Twice crime rate of Hobart. Mayor, premier please sort it out. Youth crime fuelled by drugs, theft of copper pipe from properties and car theft and burnings. Noisy boy racers Friday and Saturday nights. Bogans galore.
Don't get me wrong, fabulous eateries, gardens, cafes, library, archives, galleries, sushi bars, beer boutiques, wineries, cataract gorge, beautiful architecture and tidy city centre, gorgeous parks and a great museum. Utas and the esk river.
Please sort out the crime and create more jobs

Why do you expect when most have convict ancestors and literacy rate shows less than 1/2 can read, write and be numerate. A truly welfare city and state

"Historic charm with modern living!!"

Launceston, Tasmania’s second-largest city, combines historic charm with modern living. Set along the Tamar River, this city is renowned for its well-preserved Victorian architecture, beautiful parks, and vibrant arts scene. Launceston is home to a variety of cultural attractions, such as the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery and the Cataract Gorge, offering stunning natural beauty right in the city. With a thriving food and wine culture, excellent schools, and comprehensive healthcare facilities, Launceston provides a high quality of life for its residents. The city’s strong sense of community and ongoing developments make it an attractive destination for both families and professionals.

"Race track Launceston"

In contrast to most reviews here, which seems to be made by real estate agents, I would like to offer a genuine opinion on Launceston.
It has the potential to be a great town, with good facilities, convenience, interesting events and affordable housing BUT in the 30 years I've been visiting (I now live here) almost nothing has been achieved with bringing road hoons under control.
So, if you enjoy living near a retro-city that sounds like a noisy race track at least 4 nights a week, sharing your town with young and old alike who get off on the sounds of noisy car and motorbike exhausts, and a location where authorities show almost complete disinterest in bringing this problem under control - choose Launceston! Otherwise I would recommend Hobart.

This sounds like you're trying to put people off from living in Launceston. I mean, you visited for 30 years and now live there? You didn't hear the "hoons" in all that time?

sealegs09

Oh dear. Have I upset a Launy real estate agent or after-market exhaust supplier?

sealegs09

The fact is Launceston has the makings of a nice, pleasant town in a great location. Why have successive governments and their associated police forces been reluctant to bring road-hoons into line? It is not pleasant living in close vicinity to sociopaths who think it is hilarious to make loud noises with the vehicles at all times of the day.
Because of the reluctance to enforce the law many residents have to suffer. In this respect Launceston is about 40 years behind the times. Beware!

"Lovely city with country town feel"

I lived here and found it easy to walk around, architecturally sensitive, with a good museum and art gallery, gorge, restaurants and shops. The people are friendly. Easy parking and an accessible city.

"Lively Launceston!"

Launceston is a lovely city that has been my home for 29 years! Growing up in the area has been a treat as Launceston boasts all the conveniences possible without the big city, cramped feel. Launceston is home to many wonders including the Cataract Gorge, Tamar Wetlands and also the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery as well as beautiful range of cafes, bars and restaurants. Launceston has many parks and bike and walking tracks for families and adventurers alike.

"Why I Love Launceston"

The heading should actually read, 'what's not to love about Launceston'. I have lived in this beautiful city all of my life and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. It may be a small town, but the saying is true about great things coming in small packages! My favourite places include the iconic Cataract Gorge, the stunning vineyards in every direction and the mind-blowing coastlines and beaches. We also have the very best restaurants and cafe's and in my opinion the best coffee in the world! Ok, so I haven't tried everywhere in the world but I am sure we are in the top 10!

As the owner of a Property Management business in Launceston and working in the Real Estate industry for almost 25 years, I am lucky enough to assist people looking to invest or finding homes for people moving to our State. Living in Launceston is simple, safe and it has such a great community spirit.

"Vibrant city that is growing in reputation"

Launceston is Tasmania's second major city and a vibrant hub for food and wine, culture and nature. Locally born i am very passionate about the amazing city that we live in. Being a local Launceston property manager i am able to continually grow my knowledge and share it with everyone. This wonderful place offers a variety of old and new, my must see and do recommendations - the Launceston Cataract Gorge , Tamar Valley wine tour, the seaport and city tour. If you are looking to settle down in a low key city that still offers a range of different living styles plus it super safe for all ages, this is defiantly the place for you.
