Reviews of Woy Woy, NSW
"Woy Woy: A Coastal Gem with Community Charm"
Woy Woy is a charming and relaxed suburb on the Central Coast that offers a wonderful blend of natural beauty and convenience. Nestled along Brisbane Water, it’s a haven for those who love the outdoors, with plenty of scenic walking paths, fishing spots, and serene views that make it easy to unwind. The coastal vibe gives Woy Woy a unique character—peaceful and laid-back, yet with everything you need close by.
The suburb has a great community feel, with friendly locals, lively weekend markets, and cozy cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood. For shopping and daily essentials, Deepwater Plaza offers a good variety, and nearby Umina Beach and Ettalong Beach add more dining and leisure options. Woy Woy is also very commuter-friendly, with regular trains making it easy to travel to Sydney or Newcastle.
Overall, Woy Woy is perfect for anyone looking for a balance of coastal lifestyle, community spirit, and convenience. Whether you’re a family, retiree, or a professional seeking a quieter pace, Woy Woy has a welcoming atmosphere and plenty to offer.

"Attractive area well worth a look"
Quirky place full of stratas and cottages built for retirees also lovely waterfront reserve houses. Home to elderly and singles and happy families and those on Struggle St. Deepwater Plaza is busy every day however the general commercial area of Woy Woy is lacklustre due to commuters taking up the parking spots+ needs a late night alternative to Maccas and the pubs (teahouse, vegan?), would be viable considering the 30000+ population of the peninsula. The waterfront reserve rivals Centennial Park for public amenity. Locals are a bit apathetic about Council selling off parks and reserves. Humble Woy Woy is tending to diversify rather than gentrify.

"Great for commuter"
Located near the train line, its perfect for any commuters to get to Sydney or Newcastle. It's a little town on the water, great for the fisherman. Woy Woys aboriginal town name means "much water" or "big lagoon" in reference to it being situated on Brisbane Water. Its worth a visit to Fishermans Wharf Co-op which has nice fresh seafood at a reasonable price right on the water. Or if you are after something new, try the Link and Pin Cafe, or an old local favourite the Gnostic Cafe. Another idea if you are visiting is to catch the Davistown Ferry, to Davistown RSL for lunch. "My Druitt (sic) by the sea". Banal and inaccurate review.
Um. You said the about Umina beach mate. What is your point?
Totally wrong and inaccurate. Possibly just someone that hates life or with a negative view of life. Ignore, Woy Woy is an untapped little heaven of a suburb, near the water and under 1 million for a decent family home. Woy Woy is still flying under the Radar in comparison to Sydney suburbs or down south in wollongong. If you want seaside living, good commute into Sydney and a beautiful peaceful lifestyle Central Coast and Woy Woy in general you won't get wrong. Gentrification has begun since Covid pushed people to move further out of Sydney.

"Great location close to the water"
Woy Woy is underrated. It is a two minute drive to the stunning beaches at Umina and Ettalong. Lots of good shopping centres and great little coffee shops opening up. Only 1:15 on the train to Sydney it’s a gem!

"Close to everything, Perfect place to live for all"
Amazing place to live for all!
Walking distance to shops, stations, Beach, restaurants, Parks and waterfront.
Lived in Woy Woy as a young couple now married with two young children ages 1 and 3.
Great neighborhood vibes, safe, have never had any troubles have left keys in car, front door open, wallet on car seats and have never had a break in. Our neighbors are all friendly walking down the street people say hello and people actually care about one and another. Really is a secret gem.
Brought up in sydney parents moved to coast when we were all still in school and have never wanted to move back to sydney since. My husband commutes to sydney and I work on the coast previously also commuting. Transport and roads are great.
Great schools with very passionate teachers who go beyond for their students, coming in on the weekends I still remember doing my HSC at BWS College my DT teacher was just amazing!
Great facilities available for all and only getting better and Better.
Love woy woy it truley is a great place to live for young, old, families, singles.
We have owned our house in Woy Woy for over 10years now and have moved and rented the place out a few times and the rental return is only growing. The property value has doubled and the area is only growing. Great for investors as you will never have a problem finding tenants as the area is close to all facilities.

Hi, which street do you live ? Can you recommend some good streets. Also is commuting to Sydney a realistic option ?
"Great under rated town that's due for a boom"
Lived in Woy Woy for almost 20 years and enjoy the beach and waterfront. There are more and more restaurants and cafes popping up all the time. Transport is good with train services to / from sydney good during peak times.
We have never had a problem with crime although there appears to be a few annoying graffiti artists that would be good to catch!
The supermarket and town centre could do with a redevelopment as it's looking pretty tired.
There areas that are more nicer than others - but there is a lot of housing development which is gradually eliminating the dodgy areas

"Woy Woy Lovely area at first glance"
Having lived in Woy Woy and the Peninsula for 26 years i have seen the positive and negative sides to this area.
Positives. Beaches, Waterways, Climate, National Parks, Proximity to Rail Lines.
Negatives: High Unemployment, Rail Carpark a hot spot for thieves, Vandalism caused by Teens at night (mainly at the local surf clubs and Umina Shopping Centre). Lack of entertainment for under 18's. Lack of good restaurants.
Start one ..a good restaurant
"Woy Woy - retire or just relax"
Woy Woy is on the Central Coast of NSW and is only 82 kms north of Sydney. Woy Woy has long been a favorite weekend destination of Sydney siders looking for a few days away and has become home to many retirees. Surrounding by many other tons Woy Woy means the big lagoon and that is exactly what is there but Woy Woy also boasts some great fishing from Fisherman’s Wharf, close to surf beaches at Umina and Ettalong. There is plenty of accommodation in the way of caravan and camping parks, motels and hotels. There are plenty of shops to cater for all your needs and no end of great places to eat.

There are a few inaccuracies in this review or things that were not mentioned. I noticed that you failed to mention high unemployment in the area and the above average crime rates, Park at the Railway car park at your own risk and avoid leaving your house unoccupied. . Great places to Eat? Where? Fishermans wharf may be a great place to fish but not a great place to catch anything, lucky the fishing co-op is just next door. One more Woy Woy actually means Deep water! Such a shame as it really is a beautiful area, particularly the waterways, i should know i lived there for 26 years.
I agree with the first comment. The comment about above average crime rates is not really true. The NSW police website crime maps updated in 2010 show the Peninsula is either on average or below average for crime. The only real truth to the review is unemployment is relatively high at 9.8%.
For great places to eat, look around Cinema Paradiso in Ettalong. You have a superb Turkish restaurant called "Saffran". There is Indian, Thai, Italian etc. All fantastic (Ettalong is 3 mins from Woy Woy).
Woy Woy is also starting to see smaller cafe's pop up.
2010 ? It is 2024 now
Do you have any details of how exactly the Woy Woy Peninsula is "My Druitt by the sea" (I suspect you meant to write "Mt Druitt")
Having lived in Mount Druitt/St Marys and Woy Woy/Umina Beach, I can tell you for a fact that the Woy Woy Peninsula is a much nicer place to call home.
