Reviews of Degraves St, Melbourne (CBD)

"The only place to live in the CBD"

I lived in Degraves street for 2 years and never wanted to leave! It was always a pleasure to step outside and smell the coffee from the great cafes and admire the European architecture.

Everything is conveniently close, especially if you work in the CBD. Flinders Street Station is just opposite and trams everywhere for transport, shopping is great, plenty of places to eat, Federation Square and National Gallery is a 2 minute walk away for some culture. Loved spending time by the Yarra River and Botanic Gardens close by.

Nightlife was great and was surprisingly less noisy than expected.

Only downside was the actual apartment I was living in (internet was controlled by the building and basically non-existent), but I highly recommend living in Degraves St and if the opportunity presented itself I'd definitely move back there.

"Great to live or go out for tea!"

Degraves St is probably the best residential location in the CBD. The location is central to everything yet you feel sequestered away from the hustle and bustle. The street has a real European feel with cobblestones and heaps of great cafes and restaurants, yet there is no problem with noise late at night. Convenience is high with two major supermarkets (Coles and Iga) within a few minutes walk and easy access to the train station and most tram routes. What a place to live! Degraves St is also moments away from Fed Square, Southbank and the gorgeous Yarra so activities abound.

Be a bit noisy with the trams and trains and taxis and traffic (and any other noisy "t' word) wouldn't it?

Well, to be fair, with your windows shut you can't hear much of that at all (unless you're in a Flinders St facing apartment). The only noise that might wake you is the beep-beep-beep of the reversing garbage truck at night (Monday 1,2 & 3 am are my favourites).

Nothing beats waking up, chucking on some clothes and heading down to a happening street for breakfast!
