Reviews of South Lake, WA
"Awesome place to live, so much amenity!"
Just bought my first house in the area three months ago and I just love it here! Neighbours are friendly, beautiful parks are everywhere and i love being so close to the city, freo, cockburn gateway shopping centre and public transport.
I think the suburb is definitely still undervalued, the council has big plans for development of rail links to cockburn and theirs lots of community upgrades going on. Lots of younger couples & families moving to the area and spending money on their homes too

"Great Suburb and on the up"
I have lived in many suburbs around Perth I originally move into a small duplex in south lake to save money to buy elsewhere. I quickly grew to love the suburb and have since bought a house. Everyone in the area is great and neighbourly and people are starting to spend big money to renovate their existing houses rather than move away from the suburb.
South lake had a wrap as a less than stellar suburb and but the council has been investing mass sums to redevelop the area.

"Good location, some people can be odd"
Its super easy to get to the city and Fremantle from South lake. It was quiet where I stayed (towards the east side of the suburb).
The only thing that massively put me off was whenever I walked to the shop I would see so many discarded needles on the foot paths.

Rentals in South Lake
"Bad place, bad neighbors...avoid."
We lived in South Lake for over 6yrs and couldn't wait to get out. Our neighbors to our rear were filthy bogans, and that's paying them a compliment. On one occasion my wife was abused in the IGA shopping center by an indigenous member of society. My strong advice to anyone contemplating living in this suburb is DON'T. Do your research and live elsewhere.
I just worked in Perth for two months, doesn't matter where in Perth you are i was harrassed or asked for money by those people a number of times.
"Fantastic Suburb"
We are a young couple who have been living here for a year now and have had LOVED the location and have had absolutely no troubles. The Lakes Revitalisation project through the City of Cockburn will mean that the prices in South Lake will keep increasing. They are also supporting urban renewal in the area which will improve the overall appearance of the suburb.
Great for

- Lakes Revitalisation Project underway
- Proximity to Murdoch University
- Leisure facilities for young, schools, play grounds

Close to nature, extremely convinient to those working south of river (Jandakot, Henderson, Canningvale, Murdoch), lots of amenities and only 2 km from cockburn central shopping hub.
