Mowbray is situated atop the hill of Invermay and has and endless array of local businesses, eateries and miscellaneous shops. The main road is often busy, but is central to the suburb and within walking distance from most Mowbray residences. "Great , safe, learning community"
Mowbray is the home of UTAS and AMC. So many smart and intelligent people-it is also multicultural. Great rental returns as unfortunately on-campus accommodation is TOO expensive meaning great investment houses under $300K.
Excellent proximity to CBD and local shopping precinct--all bus or walking distance.
Pick the right street and great neighbors. Adams street for instance we are generating nearly 9% ROI for our rental. This street is stones through to a top 10 independent school (Grammar) and a top 2% University as well as the AMC.
Over the coming years the 'bogans' and 'bludgers' will move on as rental prices increase due to demand and an improvement in the rental stock. This will mean it will become a hot and trendy spot for students, international visitors and families who want to convenience of CBD living without the price.

"Great Investment Opportunities"
Being the home of the australian maritime college and University, mowbray generates a lot of activity as one of Launceston's northern Suburbs. Recently a new supermarket has been built, a new target store is under construction and unit development in the area to accommodate for university students. 43% of properties in the mowbray area are owned by investors which the majority of are on the western side of mowbray. Plenty of Takeaway options, and only a five minute drive to the Launceston CBD. There are some quaint streets in the area with a great feel and if looking to invest in property, this are would be worth having a look as far as affordability and returns are concerned.

"Nice in the day"
Although a nice area to look at Mowbray is home to a fair few public housing and low socio-economic groups. It's also quite close to ravenswood, rocherlea and other less safe areas. Mowbray is a nice place during the day but I wouldn't walk around at night without a bodyguard and some pepper spray
Have to agree with JulianH
a safe and friendly area- day and night
lots of cultural events
inclusive
open to alternative lifestyles
"Mowbray - Home of the University of Tasmania and the Australian Maritime College"
Mowbray Heights is the next suburb north of Invermay and now days is the home of the University and Australian Maritime College. Mowbray is named after Martin Mowbray Stephenson who was granted a large parcel of land which now takes in Button Street, Launceston Church Grammar School and most of the streets across to the University. Mowbray has a vibrant shopping and business centre and boasts an excellent 18 hole golf course and the Mowbray Racing centre that caters for gallops, harness racing and the greyhounds. Is situated only a few minutes drive to the Launceston CBD. Most homes fall into the $190,000 to $250,000 price bracket and because of the proximity to the university rents are very good.
