Reviews of Springvale South, VIC
"A peaceful suburb in a good location"
I have lived in this area for the last 5 years and for about 2 years many years ago…
I would say Springvale South is a mostly peaceful and quite area. This area has a lot more nicer and newer houses than in Springvale, so I think it looks better.
The population is made up of a high number of people with Asian (mainly Vietnamese) and Greek backgrounds, but I’ve noticed it’s starting to be more mixed, since the property prices seem more affordable compared to other areas.
There are a several parks/reserves, 2 small shopping areas/malls with supermarkets, restaurants, post office etc. One is located on Heatherton Road and the other is on Athol Road.
There seems to be a good community/neighbourly spirit at least on the west side of Springvale Road from my experience. I feel we look out for each other, especially if you live in a court. This area feels safe most of the time.
The City of Dandenong council is very quick to respond to any issues e.g. fallen trees/branches, rubbish dumping. Another great thing is that the rates are fairly low compared to other council areas.
I think this location in the southeast is very central and a great base, since it's only a short drive to the following places:
*15-17mins drive to Mentone beach or Chelsea beach.
*3-5 mins to Springvale main shops, 10 mins Parkmore Shopping Centre, 10 mins Brandon Park Shopping Centre, 20 mins to The Glen S.C and 20 mins Southland S.C.
*7-10 mins to DFO/ Moorabbin Airport.
*5-7 mins to Bunnings and Officeworks in Keysborough and 10 mins Bunnings in Springvale.
*5 mins to new Hawthorn Football Training Centre, Dingley (opening soon).
*35 mins (average) train to Southern Cross and 35-40 mins by car to city (non-peak hours).
*35-40mins to Mornington on Freeway (M11)
Also, in next few years there will be SurfNPlay in Dingley, which will be southern hemisphere’s largest water park. The build will be commencing within the next year and will be about a 5-7 mins drive to the facility.
Overall, I think it’s a pretty good place to live :)

"Great food and shopping centres all around!"
I've lived in Springvale South for almost 15 years and I would say there are a range of supermarkets and shopping centres within close driving distance so everything is easy to get to. Also the beach isn't too far of a drive either. I didn't mind living far from the city because there are many suburbs around that have their own night life therefore I didn't need to travel to the city too often.
Personally, my only downside is that I did not feel safe, I felt like at times I was being watched or occasionally would see something dodgy happening and I've had my fair share of unsafe moments so therefore I make sure to lock everything or have someone on the phone if I need to walk to my car outside and it's dark.
"An evolving suburb"
Springvale south is an amazing suburb filled with small community outlets. A lot of people have lived here for the pass 20+ years, it is filled with good food and plenty of parks and reserve. I lived here all my life, a lot of redevelopment of old homes shows how much this suburb is safely guarded. A low turn over of properties keeps this suburb with generations of family to come.

"Springvale south beautyful place to live!!!"
I was going to say the Springvale south suburb , but you beat me to it. Depends on your idea of beauty. The location are my idea of center of every thing, but maybe not anyone else's. I like it, and I like Springvale south people as well.

"Great place to call home"
I have moved back to Springvale South after living abroad for almost 10 years and I must admit, the place is fantastic.
Love Springvale but I prefer Springvale South. More quiet and less crazy busy.
I have a young family and its an ideal place to live. Close to shops, childcare centres and primary schools. People are friendly (esecially if your Asian) and they keep to themselves most of the time.
5 mins drive and you can drop your kids off at the best school in Australia (Haileybury College).
I rarely see any crimes nor do I see anything that might put me off. Yeah they have the occasional street beggers at the shops but thats the only bad thing i could think about it. You see more street beggers at Malvern and in they city.
Only 10 mins to the beach and 15 mins to Chadstone Shopping Centre. 10 mins from The Glen.
Defintely great potential in this area. They are even building a Hyatt Hotel in Springvale in a few years time.
Love the suburb. Wouldn't live anywhere else.
Straight out of Springvale.

"Springvale South is a well facilitated Suburb"
Springvale South, a suburb below Springvale, beside Clayton South, above Dingley Village and Keysborough. It is a quiet suburb that is surrounded with convenience of established facilities nearby. It is 22 Km away from CBD and well served with choices of going for major connecting highways such as Dingley Bypass, Monash Freeway and Nepean Hwy. It is also a 15 mins drive down to the coast at Chelsea via Springvale Rd. Springvale Rd also runs all the way up to Glen Waverly and ends at Doncaster. The nearest train Stations are Westall or Springvale Stations. If you choose to take a train to CBD, it is just 21 mins journey from Springvale Station.
There are also neighbourhood parks and dominated by Buddhist community. It is not like the busy Chinatown in Springvale suburb and yet a stroll or short drive away from it. It is also not plague with landfills like the nearby surrounding suburbs. Some people may feel intimidated by the larger Asian population (making up of Vietnamese, Chinese and other southeast Asian populations) but this is because it is near to the biggest Chinatown in Eastern Suburb. The residents here are spoilt with varieties of food, eateries, takeaways, Yum Cha restaurants at very affordable prices. The fresh produces are cheap compared to other suburbs and some are half the prices of major supermarket.
The nearby shopping malls are Ikea, and the up coming M-City are just 10mins away.
It used to be a suburb established by new working class migrants and refugees but that Generation has already grown into local Australian professional families. The government schools are pretty average but there are a couple of good private schools around the area. This suburb is NBN ready, the streets width are generous in size. The prices of properties here are picking up growth speed as there is only about 3000 odd homes and not many are in the market. If you love Asian food, love multi-cultural diversity, want to enjoy the affordable food and necessities, you would want to move here. Remember, prices will all go up and up in location that are well served in the future. It is already growing at 11%pa in prices and it will be a million dollar suburb in a few years.

"Small quiet suburb a stone throw away from everything"
Springvale south sits in a quiet pocket between Springvale, Keysborough and Noble Park. With plenty of shopping facilities, schools and other amenities close by, it makes this suburb a great place to live. Being close to the monash freeway, It takes on average 35 minutes to get to the CBD or 21 minutes by express train. Great place to both live or Invest as rental yield is high and Capital growth is above average.
