Really suprised how over developed Torquay and surrounding areas have become. There are a high number of new estates being built between Geelong and Torquay, so it will end up bring like suburbia by the sea. It is nice to live by the beach but I actually think it comes with a big compromise of estate living with no back yard and your neighbour's house squashed next to yours. It depends if you like that kind of thing or not.
It's a fair commute to Melbourne and as it's getting more developed I can imagine the trains becoming extremely busy. Having said that it is a great place to visit. A good place to stay over and have a holiday before driving along the great ocean road.

Very relaxed town Awsome people the place to be

A great seaside location at the start of the Great Ocean Road. With new estates like The Quay and The Sands, it's a maximum 20 minute walk from the edge of Torquay to the centre of town. With a good mix of seniors and young families this is an enjoyable place to live. With a natural beach and parks nearby you couldn't find a better location. Residents love to walk to the shops and restaurants so it is very safe.

Moved here 4 years ago and love it ! Great people, close to Geelong and Melb ( especially the footy ! ) and some of the best beaches in Victoria. Gets a bit busy in Jan though otherwise fantastic. Land and houses are affordable and capital growth still on !
