We love living in Carnegie. We have live here for 7 years. They are a lot of parks and playground for the kids. The schools are great. They are good school. It is very safe here. There are so many selection of restaurants and dessert places on Koornang road. Chadstone shopping center is just 10 minutes drive. Where we lived the train stations are 10 minutes to 15 minutes walk. We would not move anywhere else in Melbourne. For us, this is the best suburb in Melbourne.

There are so many parks around Carnegie with playgrounds which is great for young families! There is a train station and tram line to get to and from the city, schools, a library and even a super nice Facebook community! It feels pretty safe to live here and there are so many eat-out options available around.

Carnegie as well is surrounded by nice suburbs with nice cafes and eat-out options. It is not too far from the beach, brighton beach being 10 minutes away by car.

Koornang Rd is the main shopping street where you can find pretty much everything , even medical centres.

We've just moved to Carnegie a few months ago and are very impressed with the suburb. It's a very family friendly community here with lots of parks and playgrounds, which is important to us as we're starting a family. There's also a great selection of restaurants and cafes with really nice coffee and food options everywhere. The Carnegie shopping strip on Koornang Road basically has everything you need. There's a new train station which provides easy access to the city in about 20 minutes. It's a great central location between the city and also not far at all from the beach. All in all it's a quiet, peaceful suburb and we are very happy living here!

we moved here from interstate about 12 months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Whilst I don't have the history of Carnegie to comment on what i can share is - it is very kid friendly, quiet, safe and also a very convenient location. With the new train line in place, the station becomes one of the best in Melbourne and the express train gets you into the city in 20mins or less. It looks like a big redevelopment may happen with the pool which, should have plenty of upside but may bring traffic to a rather quiet area. The dog park, and football grounds are great for exercise and to take the kids. Koornang road has plenty of options for dining out as well as all the amenities you need. I had a laugh to myself when i read some comments about "gangs" and is carnegie "safe" - as i have never felt safer and happily allow my children to ride their bikes and skateboard around the neighborhood so unsure if this was once an issue in the past. You are within 5mins drive of other parks, pools, entertainment options and chadstone shopping center. There are a handful of school options and i believe the glen huntly school has just secured a huge upgrade grant. We are super happy with our experience so far but it does look to be getting into the very expensive range.

With lots of food options, this Foodie town is one of the best suburbs to live in Melbourne. The new elevated train station has solved the traffic issue and commuting to the city is quick and easy. I live with my boyfriend and we enjoy going for evening walks at the trail close to the station and the nearby parks. It is such a great area to live in, never had a problem finding food for date nights and shops are literally walking distance. We wish to purchase our first home here but the prices are getting a bit pricey.

Carnegie used to be great. Now it’s increasingly busy with traffic jams and parking issues. People are rushing and the community feeling Carnegie once had is rapidly changing.

Lots of food options if you live Asian food like I do. Close to Chadstone.

I have lived in Carnegie almost my entire life and I can't imagine living any where else! I am hoping to purchase my first home in the area.

It is the perfect position for everything - great schools, parks, public transport options, it is not far from the M1 and Chadstone Shopping Centre. Koornang Road is home to the library and fantastic exotic cuisines. I love it!

This is a great family area. Chadstone shops are around the corner so you should be able to get everything you need and then some without any difficulty. The area is well serviced by public transport, whisking you into the city quickly and efficiently. There are many good places to get out and have a meal if you want without having to go far. My Husband and I work in the city and it only takes us less than 20minutes to get to the city from here, 15mins drive via M1 and princess highway.

Carnegie is a great place to live if you like to eat and swim! Start your morning with a coffee and Bagel at Huff Bagelry then go for a mid morning swim at Carnegie pool or GESAC or take a walk around the lovely streets. Then for dinner you can enjoy one of the many great (mainly asian) restaurants.

The beach, city, Chadstone Shopping Centre and Universities are within easy reach.

The area is going through quite a transformation with developments popping up everywhere. Relatively new trendy cafes like Left Field and Temperance Society indicate that the area has arrived as a place to be.

It will certainly be a bonus when the level crossings have been removed as crossing the train line is worse than trying to get across the Yarra!

I don't know if it is a coincidence, but I don't find the people to be all that friendly.

Have lived here for a while now and the traffic is just getting worse because everyone seems to be building apartments left right and centre. OMG, move here if you don't mind traffic and multi-dwelling units!

I've really enjoyed living in Carnegie, very easy to go in and out of the city, lots of shopping/eating options, great neighbourhoods, quiet and safe. Great public transport options (bus, train AND tram).
The two things that threaten the balance of things here though are the rising house prices and the new developments. It's just impossible for a normal middle class family to afford anything around here (even to rent). A lot of balky developments are happening too, which will change the vibe and push up the price, traffic and noise levels.

...unless you love all the multi-national dining options, the really good local butchers, several niche market cafes and being spoilt with shops, childcare and of course Chadstone. Yes, Chadstone is just minutes away. Prices are steep, even for apartments, forget about houses. I love it for the convenience, metropolitan and multi-cultured lifestyle. Suits both owner occupiers and investors.

Just bought a unit here. It's a great spot to live in. Absolutely no regrets.

I've been looking around for a property to buy around the South Eastern inner suburbs and was recently introduced to Carnegie. It's an amazing little spot and so convenient. The people living here are more humble, friendly and neighbourly. After looking at near new / refurbished units and apartments in South Yarra, Richmond, Armadale and North Caulfield that would cost you around $700++++(which is a ridiculous prices for tiny spaces and it's so dense in those areas you can't even find a park!), I've got my mind set on trying to find something in Carnegie as the prices for near new large 3 bedroom apartments are still between $600 to $700k which is very reasonable.
This suburb also has various units around the $400k to $500k mark but from my inspections, they are mostly greater than 10 years old, smaller, requires significant renovation and comes with only one bathroom! How can units come with 1 bathroom? How can I add another bathroom in a townhouse I saw the other day that sold for $680k?
So if you have time money and skills, you can self renovate and spend anywhere up to $100k. Otherwise, if you happen to see a 3 bedder apartment in a boutique block around the $650k mark in Carnegie, you'd better grab it, unless of course I grab it first. Let the games begin!

...and not about to move anywhere else. My family moved here 10 years ago after renting houses in Balwyn, Hawthorn and South Yarra. We came across Carnegie and decided to buy a home along Neerim Road, the patch that is close to Koornang Road shops and restaurants. Carnegie has always been a busy little suburb because of it's local facilities and amenities. It's easily accessible by public transport of all types and is very close to all the attraction of Chadstone and Malvern shopping strips. I have seen this suburb bloom from year to year. Property prices here have maintained their value and prices of newly renovated homes here have skyrocketed, but in my humble opinion, still very much worth the price. I can only see a very bright future for this suburb as it attracts more exciting cafe and restaurant owners.

Carnegie is located in the middle of Caulfield and Murumbeena. If you live there, you can enjoy the convenience of one tram line, 2 train stations and heaps of buses in terms of public transport. What I love about this place is the blend of international food and culture. If you live near Koornang Road where the shops are (I live just 5 minutes walk away), you will be amazed at what you will find. We have Korean, Chinese, Indian, Russian, Thai, Malaysian and of course, your true blue Australian cuisine all along that strip. There are also 4 major banks, 2 Woolies, 1 Aldi and lots of local green grocers and fresh butchers to get your weekly (or daily) supplies. For the family oriented, there are at least 3 parks and a swimming centre within a 2 mins drive radius. For those looking for schools, there's so much to choose from, it would be difficult to mention all of them here. There's also good old Rosstown Pub which has a fabulous burger and pot deal for 10 bucks or so, not to mention several fitness gyms within Carnegie itself. Mate, this suburb has a lot going for it and with Monash University just 20 mins walk away (you can catch a train but walking is healthier), it's good suburb for professionals, families and / or investors to purchase a unit here.

I've been living here for over 3 years and have seen tremendous changes. Developers have targeted this area as the up and coming suburb because of it's excellent location in terms of shops, restaurants, facilities, amenities, schools and proximity to Monash Caulfield. It's a quiet suburb that gets the hustle and bustle during peak hours because everyone from neighbouring suburbs seem to shop and eat here. I'm planning to sell my unit soon and hope to get a good price as I need a bigger place for the extra kids but can't afford buying something bigger in Carnegie. But, I love this suburb and will definitely consider living here time and again.

I just love it! Good quality living, access to amenities of all sorts, lovely muti-cultural food and restaurants. If only they had more new houses or townhouses here. All new developments are mostly modern apartments and the older houses will cost a bomb to buy and renovate. There's just one down the street, sold for close to $700k and you can't really live in it. But the owner's are pulling the guts out and it'll cost them around 250k to do it all, including landscaping the garden!

Very small suburb stuck in the middle of Caulfield and Murumbeena - Very convenient suburb - My family enjoys living here due to it's close proximity to everything - My wife loves shopping at Chadstone, Glenferrie Road Malvern, High Street Armadale and Chapel Street South Yarra - All are approximately 10 minutes away by car - Don't know what else to say but if I had more money, I'd buy a house here :)))

Moved to a unit at Neerim Road just several minutes walk to Koornang Road shops and restaurant recently. Am really impressed with the abundance of food that is available. There's like Thai, Indian, Shanghainese, Malaysian, Modern Australian, Russian, Greek, Italian, contemporary cafes, you name it, we've got it. Facilities and amenities are more than satisfactory, parks galore, librarie, day care and schools, there's Woolies, Aldi and fresh fruit stalls. If that does not satisfy you, take a 5 minute drive to Chaddy and knock yourself out. No complaints from my missus so all is very good here at Carnegie. It's a pocket full of diamonds!

Love the shops, the restaurants, the fresh food, the community library, Packer Pack, St Anthony's Primary school, the leafy, quiet and fresh air feel to the neighbourhood. Lots of birds chirping and bees buzzing around my garden and friendly neighbours. It's one of the suburbs in Melbourne that has a good multi-cultural blend to it. The cafes here are also good e.g. Platform 3, Huff Baglery and lots more. The best thing is that it' a short drive to Chaddy, Glenferrie Road, Chapel Street and Ikea Springvale / Homemaker centre. I own an apartment here and am keen to buy another one.

This is one of the best inner suburbs located 12 kms from the city. It has the best of many worlds. I live along Neerim Road, just 5 mins walk to Koornang Road shops and restaurants, 2 Woolies supermarkets, 1 brand new Aldi supermarket plus various Asian, Korean, Greek, Russian and Indian grocery stores. It's almost unbelievable to find so many different cultures opening a grocery store on a single street.

There's at least 3 parks (a swimming centre) and 2 gyms within a 10 minute walk from where I am including a library and gas station. All the big 4 banks are located on Koornang road and we have 2 post offices, one in Koornang road and another one next to Murumbeena station, also less than 10 minutes walk away.

It's also got good early learning and primary schools nearby and also secondary schools within the vicinity. I can't believe how convenient this suburb is and I really hope that I can afford a house here as it is getting really expensive to own a property. It's actually one of the best suburbs to raise a family or for young professionals to live in as the cost of living here is still quite good.

Local restaurants are all priced very affordably and they taste fantastic. Lots of funky new developments are already being completed with a few more underway. I guess if you are looking for a trendy and vibrant suburb along the South Eastern belt, this is it. You can either invest of live here. You won't regret buying something here. I'm already looking at buying another property here. Oh... Did I mention that Monash Uni is only 5 mins drive away?

We just moved to Carnegie recently. It's a wonderful area to live in, particularly north of Oakleigh Road. Below that and it's a little too far to easily walk to the Koornang Road shops or the Glenhuntly. It's close to the city, serviced by two major train lines. Closest stations are Carnegie and Glenhuntly, although Carnegie is the best choice as it runs express into the city. It's also serviced by a bus line on Neerim Road, and a tram line on Glenhuntly Road.

It's super quiet, and the Koornang road shops has hundreds of shops including numerous restaurants ranging from Indian to Thai to Pizza to Korean. Everything you can think of really. It is serviced by two Woolworths supermarkets, and is close to parks, pools. A short drive to Chadstone for the times you need the chain shops.

There are some apartments but mostly the older style house with the odd new development. Most streets are wide and it's full of established houses and beautiful trees.

An amazing place to live!

I moved to Carnegie not knowing much about the suburb but only based on the recommendations of my home loan manager cum mortgage broker. It did not take long for me realise that this suburb is a hidden gem. I live just 5 minutes walk from the heart of Koornang Road shops and restaurants but discovered that there was more to Carnegie such as good schools, a near new library centre, parks and children playgrounds, medical centres, gyms, and the fact that it has heaps of green grocers and two Woolies supermarkets! Living here also gives you a chance to shop at multi-national dry food / grocers. For those of you who have not heard of Carnegie, it's just the suburb after Caulfield and before Murumbeena. Also, I love the fact that it's 5 mins drive to Malvern and Chadstone shopping centre and 20 minutes drive to the CBD. Come by for a visit one day.

Bought an apartment and moved here 8 months ago. This is a lovely spot. It's got everything from a library to all sorts of shops along the character-filled Koornang Rd. Furthermore, it's only a smooth 20 minute drive to the city and a 10 minute drive to Chadstone and also Glenferrie Road Malvern. It's also quiet at night but in the morning, the lively chirps of birds are in the air. Ah, the air quality is great and so much better than Melbourne CBD (and the Western burbs...). Oh and don't forget that Monash Caulfield is just a 5 min drive away or just the next station if you catch a train.

Love the suburb, Packer Park is a great place for little kids. It located close to train stations that are in the Zone 1 area. The main shopping strip on Koornang Rd is fantastic and if you more there is Chadstone just 5 minutes down the road.

Nice suburb especially with the newer home developments and being 12 km south-east from Melbourne's central business district makes Carnegie and attractive place for families.

Carnegie is a great place to live. It is quiet, peaceful yet with a hub of activity around the local shops, where there are lots of bargins to find. The parks are easily accessible and well equiped with for children. The Packer Park is great for children, there is so much to do. We love living here as we really feel part of the community and safe.

Great shopping at local strip, friendly community with good schools and parks. Close to the city and public transport. We LOVE living here.

Close to Caulfield racecourse and with easy access to the city along the freeway this area has a lot going for it.
This is a good blend of houses available from apartments and units through to houses on larger blocks making it suitable for a wide range of people. There are still some beautiful older homes on smaller blocks that have been restored or well maintained.
Public transport services the area well with train stations close by and trams not far away either.
There are some good schools in the area and close by and it is close to Monash University making it a good spot for families of all ages, or just Uni students looking for a spot close to Uni.
There are some good shops around and Chadstone isn’t too far away either.
