"Slice of paradise"

We moved here from Samford, the town itself is arguably better with some great cafes and restaurants being a short drive from the winery, clear mountain lodge and birches. Friendly community. Still reasonably close to the city and close to North Lakes.

Looking for a home in Dayboro?

"Your own slice of paradise"

We originally started our search for a family home in Samford and boy, are we glad it didn't work out!
Dayboro came recommended to us by a family real estate agent "it has everything you want AND it is a fraction of the price of Samford" she said, and we just rolled our eyes and said it is also another 20 mins out of town! Then a few properties came to the market which were just a little too hard to ignore. We had one look and made an offer the same day. And we are so glad we did!!!!! Dayboro's community spirit is strong. You see the same families over and over again - it's great because making friends is a breeze out here (coming from an introvert). The local community kindy, which is beyond beautiful with mud pits, flying fox, chicken coop and amazing teachers, is a great place to spread your social wings in the community. Bakery and butcher are THE BEST. Cafes and restaurants awesome! The local Iga needs a bit of love, but is good to have when you are missing only a couple ingredients or just need to pick up some milk. Otherwise dayborians get Woolworths/ Coles delivered, head to the Warner shopping complex (aldi!!) And many buy all their produce from the Lawnton country markets (also has bulk butcher, bakery, fish shop a short drive and chemist warehousing - we buy most hints from here, and do a top up buy from aldi every two weeks and SAVE so much money, for way better produce!). There is also a new shopping complex getting built in petrie. The water park, the mill, in petrie is amazing too! Dayboro has a tiny gym but most people go to the amazing genesis gym, which also has access to a large pool and a great creche. Town is still growing and offering more activities for kids/ teenagers every year. My husband used to commute to the valley, one hour trip. It's a pleasant drive to around Enoggera and then it becomes more stop and go as you get closer to the city. Local school is great. High school, not the best but definitely improving so many parents choose to drop their kids off to the bakery and onwards with the school bus to excellent private schools. Community spirit is strong and neighbours get along. The newer estates are all absolutely stunning, all on 6000ms, I don't think I could do city suburbia anymore. Kids playing outside, parents gardening. My tip, skip expensive Samford that unfortunately lost its country appeal and now feels more like a gold club and choose dayboro. Use the spare money on a caravan and have the best of both worlds - country life and epic weekend adventures at the beach with family. It's a good life. We accidentally once left our balcony doors open for a whole of two weeks 😂, like WIDE open while we were on holiday and noone broke in. So safe. Green. Family friendly. Got everything in town you can possibly ask for. So glad we moved here!

"I love it, so don't come here."

A gorgeous town, but since everyone wants their triple figure income jobs in the city and the country lifestyle, I guarantee over the next 20 years greed will get the better of developers and it'll be looking like Kallangur soon enough. Take photos of it while you still can. Getting more crowded by the day.

"Fresh air, wide mountain vistas, friendly folk and great cafes!"

Dayboro is a hidden gem. About 40 minutes’ drive into the hustle and bustle of the CBD-so fully commutable, yet it SO nice to leave all the traffic, light pollution and noise of the city behind at the end of the day!

Great cafes, bakery, pizza takeaway, an IGA, country weekend market. It’s got a community swimming pool, gym. A petrol station, tennis courts, bowling club and lots of bush hiking tracks and horse riding trails in the environs.

15 minutes from Samford, yet (so far) without the hefty price tags (although as people are now beginning to realise how glorious and friendly Dayboro is, it’s getting harder to buy under $800k...)

The new USC university at Petrie is only 15 minutes away. Ferny Grove train station is 30 minutes away.

Swim in the natural waterhole. Cycle on quiet roads. Watch a movie in the village hall. Enjoy a glass of wine or a beer sat on your veranda watching the sunset disappear behind the mountain range...Ah Dayboro-My home :)

"A great place to live"

I have lived in dayboro for 10 years and love it. It is clean and always has the most amazing smell of Kamala (a local plant) the locals are friendly and the annual dayboro day is always a ball. The bakery is great as well. The only problems with dayboro is that there is no public transportation. There is a bus line that does only 2 busses in and out. Only for school kids. Also, IGA is the only shop until Petrie so the prices are rediculous.
Overall, dayboro is a great place to live. But it does have it downfalls

"Country Views and Community Feel!"

I have lived in Dayboro for 5 years and cannot rate it highly enough, if you like a peaceful and quiet existence with a strong community feel.
This is the only place I have lived where locals smile and say hello. I have young twins and almost every time I go out with them someone will ask me if I need help carrying groceries etc.

I often see koalas, wallabies, King Parrots, Rosellas, Kookaburras and families of ducks (just to name a few!) in my backyard.

There is an abundance of cafes however only 3 restaurants available for dining in. I’ll admit, we do need a bit of an uplift in regards to public transport out here. There is none that I am aware of or have seen (there may be a bus?) but driving is a must out here.
The local IGA is expensive, so is only used for emergencies.
I have heard great things about our primary school and day cares also.
Our nearest more developed suburbs are only 30 mins away by car and Woolworths delivers out here.

I have seen a lot of development in recent years in Dayboro, which I love. In my opinion this will continue to increase over the next 5 years or so with the major developments going forward in Ferny grove (train station upgrade) and Petrie University.

Overall, if you are looking for a picturesque town with a strong community, you cannot go wrong with Dayboro.

"I just love it here"

Pros:- Dayboro is a wonderful place to live. The views of the mountains, the country markets, the excellent bakery, the vintage car and bike scene. There is a great little primary school, several excellent places to eat, an amazing butchery, the cutest post office, and people who wave hello. The sky is extra blue and the property prices are still reasonable. You can go to the gym, have a swim and do your shopping all within 1km.
Cons:- No high school (kids bus out of town from the primary), the pub is average. We only have one Rediteller in the IGA.

"This is my two cents' worth!"

I live here but I didn't grow up here. Over the years I've come to know several original Dayborian families - some friendly, some slightly less so. My immediate neighbours are the nicest people you could wish to meet, but it is true when they say that on the whole the 'old' families keep much to themselves. I have lived here long enough to observe why outsiders are viewed with suspicion. For many of these original inhabitants and citizens of Dayboro, their own families have grown up and left the area because of the lack of job availability, on the whole. Through growth and demand, housing prices have risen sharply over the years, making it impossible for many of these families to buy into or even return to the area to set up home. Perhaps the most annoying trend, courtesy of the newly formed and less involved Moreton Bay Regional Council, is the emerging culture to 'split and divide' the double lots around town. These minute and compromised parcels of land are shooting up all over town, and more houses are being squeezed onto these postage-stamp sized properties, leaving little or no wriggle room for kids or pets to play outside and enjoy a healthy outdoor lifestyle. With this new mindset comes lack of privacy and the space that's usually symbolic with making the move to the country and away from the suburbs in the first place! Sadly, with this culture comes another trend - investment properties! Don't get me wrong. Development has its place, provided it is done right and doesn't compromise the feel of the town or the values of the towns folk. The new developments do compromise the country feel of this town.

Unfortunately, what we're seeing in Dayboro is the growing trend to fill these rental properties with a steady flow of transient renters who are neither interested in laying down roots, nor have any desire to fit into the community. Landlords generally do not vet their renters; this is left to the real estate agents who have a vested interest is in filling these empty houses, regardless of turnover numbers or the impact it's having on a previously close community. Fortunately we do not experience the "weekender commute" of second-home owners - a problem that often plagues so many other communities these days, giving these townships the appeal of a "ghost town".

I will add that the increased volume of new builds around Dayboro is putting a huge strain on the water supply in this township. Dayboro draws water locally from a bore. Sounds good? To a certain degree, yes it is. However, during periods of high rainfall or flooding, the bore has to be shut down due to contamination. In these circumstances water has to be trucked in! When people move into the area they automatically assume that because they're on town water, there is a never-ending supply of water being pumped into the town from the nearest dam. Wrong! Leave that logic back in the suburbs. During adverse times our water travels a long way and is therefore a precious commodity - a fact often not recognized nor appreciated by newcomers. With the new split-and-divide blocks blighting our landscape, thus creating "Little Brisbane" outside of Brisbane, we could end up facing higher water rates from more frequent droughts - if global warming has anything to do with it. It's therefore incredibly naive and short-sighted of this Council to push for further development in this area. There is another downside with the water in Dayboro. Due to the risks involved with bore water, higher than usual doses of chlorine are pumped into the holding tanks on a regular basis. This has led to an increase in health problems in the area, particularly with those who suffer from asthma and skin issues. The water company that services this area does not respond favourably to complaints! At great out-of-pocket cost to ourselves, my husband purchased a water filtration system which is plumbed into our own water supply. This is primarily because we both suffer with skin problems and myself with asthma. Now that the chlorine has for the most part been removed from our water supply, we regard our household water as if it's tank water - bearing in mind that tank water creates scum build-up on porcelain household items such as toilet bowls, baths, basins, sinks, making them harder to keep clean - an issue which chlorine usually addresses. The benefits outweigh this minor hiccup, and we are experiencing cleaner drinking water and taking showers that don't overwhelm us with sulphur fumes from the chlorine! A worthy investment.

And here's a thought, when many of us make the move to the country it is with the intention of escaping the rat race of the suburbs and the cramped, unnatural conditions of living on top of our neighbours. We make the tree change looking for the new sense of 'belonging' that comes from living and intermingling with a much smaller community, and giving our kids the right to roam freely and enjoy a healthy outdoors life, safe from 'predators' and peer influence. It does beg the question of why we swap one way of living for an 'identikit' lifestyle by opting to buy into these smaller, divided plots of land? Do we like living on top of one another? Do we need to move to the country to replicate the lifestyle we enjoyed in the suburbs? Are we genuinely looking to change our lifestyles and integrate ourselves fully into an old and established community? These are questions I would urge anyone thinking of making the change to ask themselves. I'd also ask them to bear in mind that they will be swapping a short commute for a much longer one, which in turn is exhausting over a period of time and leaves one with little or no inclination and time to mingle with the community. If you really want to make the move to Dayboro, you have to change your mindset, embrace the culture and adapt to the slower pace of living in a small community. Make time to make friends.

Great for

  • Living in town and benefiting from the space of a larger block.
  • Happy younger kids but not enough entertainment for older ones.
  • Peaceful and low crime

Not great for

  • Dual demographics - historical population of cattle and dairy farming familes, now mixed with tree-change wealthy owners of 1 to 2 acre blocks on 6-digit incomes.
  • Increasing number of renters living in an increased number of investment properties.
  • Having a Council that's so removed from the reality of country needs and living.

"True Review from a long time local"

if you want fresh air, Dayboro isn't the place for you. It is full of dust, smoke and Diesel fumes. My father was diagnoised with a lung problems, non smoker but was caused from environmental problems. Lived only in Dayboro.
The people if you are part of the "clan" are friendly but if your not part of the "clan" they are rude and nasty.
The school is the only thing that saves the area, really nice teachers and a good place for your kids to learn.
There is no public transport but a non exsisting bus service that comes in twice a day. From a bus stop you can't find.
Eating out at night, unless you like the fish and chip shop or the rude customer service from the local cafe is non existing.
Pub is over priced, Shopping option is only IGA and the food is always outdated. Internet access has problems on windy days.
It is not at all clean and green. The locals seem to cut down all the trees in replace of sparse lawns, and cattle.
I have lived in country areas before and Dayboro certainly does not have that "country" spirit.
I would not suggest anyone to live there even my worst enemy.
There are much nicer areas in Brisbane outer suburbs, don't waste your time on this little town of yesteryear.
High rentals also on poor quality houses.
Crime has gotten quite bad in some parts of the area. And drug use with "bored" teenagers is becoming a problem also.
There is no jobs for teenagers who have left school, and if you don't have use of a car, you are basically stranded in this town.
There is nothing for teenagers to do.
Town is more suited for retired people. Those who love the sitting around and being bored.
Medical center has improved somewhat over the years.
If you live an alternative lifestyle you are not welcomed at all.
Redneck, Rude and Racist is how i sum up this town

Not great for

  • Petrol expensive. groceries expensive.
  • Dusty and noisy

Oh my, this is an impressive stance. I feel there are pockets of what you describe in all communities and feel you have been sitting in the wrong pocket, unfortunately. I have only lived here for 13 years but have had a weather station with pollution readings and if it was as bad as you have indicated would have moved on by now. yes, there are a lot of aspects in Dayboro to be worked on but no more than anywhere else. Thanks for the list of issues as it will be helpful with the new Dayboro movement happening around town. Its all about gathering thinkers and shaping ideas for the future, involving the kids, teens and everyone else to building stronger connections within the community to counteract all your aforementioned issues.

jg4

I couldn't disagree more. We are newcomers having been here for 3 years and couldnt feel more welcomed. Community spirit is alive and well. The smell of the pine trees especially in winter is amazing. NBN and never had an issue. IGA is great. And Woolworths will deliver to your door. On days off from my full time job as a 24/7 sift worker i have no reason to leave town.
In saying that, i dont have children. I'm also obviously not retired.
Love dayboro!

bobd9

I have lived here since I was born. I can't stand 'newcomers' like you because it's destroying the country atmosphere. Trees being cut down left right and centre, constant crowding in the main street, crammed houses being squashed into old farmland. Kiss your country lifestyle goodbye, because as long as there's space, there's room for money to be made. So sad that my childhood home is slowly getting swallowed by 'progress'. It's just Samford 2.0 now.

I have grown up in Dayboro, it is a fantastic community, perfect for raising your young family. A superb primary school and public transport to all the nearby state and private schools. It is an amazing place to live, in the country yet still only 45mins to the CBD or Sunshine Coast.

"Dayboro - relaxing, close enough to commute."

Wow. What a great place to live. Get away from it all in Dayboro, great for countryside, rolling hills and local picnic spots like Mt Mee. Takes about 10-15mins to drive to Petrie (nearest train station) on a extremely well kept 100km/h road, then train 35min to CBD.

Dayboro has a few shops - local chippie, chemist, bakers, IGA store, coffee shops and restaurant, local pub, bottleshop everything you need really but don't expect too much, no Woolworths/Coles .. too small for that (Petrie has the closest store)
It has a few local sports/clubs - swimming pool, footy club, bowls, scouts for the kids! and some really good tennis courts.

We've lived here for only 6 months and made plenty of new friends - it's small enough that people regularly say hi in the street even if they don't know you - not something that happens in other places.

No high school but does have primary school (reasonably good results) - the eldest goes and loves it, the youngest goes the local daycare. Dayboro has a couple daycare centres and a family daycare and local kindy. Spoilt for choice for people to take your kids!

We came the UK and have found the transition easy and enjoyable (we also did a stint in North Lakes - another nice place but no countryside) - for the sale of the typical price of 3bed semi you can buy 1,5acres and a large home - even at the 2012 Aussie dollar strength against weedy sterling. Much greater value than the next township, Samford yet just as quick to get into the city.

If you want nightclubs Dayboro's not it. If you want acreage, stunning views and peace and quiet whilst still being able to get into the CBD - Dayboro ticks all the boxes.

Great for

  • Rolling Hills, Stunning Views
  • Lots of acerage, Space for the kids!

"A place for families and unpretentious types preferred."

I have lived in Dayboro for 28 years, own a 4 bedroom home on 1.5 acres which is currently rented out, but now reside in an inner northern suburb of Brisbane. I have noticed some complaints by people saying things such as there were "brown snakes" and things are "expensive" eg groceries. Then there are others who absolutely love the place.

Having lived at both ends of the spectrum, this is my opinion:

If you work in the city and don't like commuting, if it surprises you that there is actually wildlife in a semi rural area, and you don't bother to take the opportunity to purchase the regular specials on offer at the local IGA, then I suggest you quit your whingeing and go live in the inner city!!!

However, if you are happy to commute, don't mind seeing native animals at your backdoor, and accept that stores aren't open 24/7 (the IGA is open til 8PM), like to walk the streets at night without fear, and don't mind leaving the doors unlocked, then it is a good place to live.

Priorities should be considered when purchasing here. Consider this: I have had dirt bikes most of my life. Living in Dayboro where I kept my thousands of dollars worth of machinery, nothing was ever stolen, EVER, and the shed was easily seen from the road and had no locks on it. I moved to a unit in the inner north of Brisbane 4 years ago and my garage was broken into twice and a near new dirtbike was stolen even though it was chained up. Also, plenty of people in Dayboro, including myself own rifles and knives and go pig hunting etc. I have never felt afraid or been assaulted or had any violent behaviour directed towards me in all the years I lived there. Living in the inner city for the last four years, I've been subjected to more than enough alcohol/drug fuelled violent behaviour when I go out for a quiet beer or two.

Another note, ever seen a housing commission home in Dayboro? Me neither! Most people moving to the area are double income families/ self employed businessmen and women, and they build mainly comfortable 4 bedroom homes and are happy to enjoy what the community has to offer.

In conclusion, if you like fishing, four wheel driving, dirt bikes, outdoor sports of any kind (especially Rugby League), horses, native fauna and flora, nice homes, neighbours that talk to you (and talk about you! Haha), low levels of crime, etc and have small children, then Dayboro is for you.

If you want to live in the city, well, go live in the city.

  • Peaceful and low crime

Lilian

Thanks so much for your helpful review. I was just wondering how inclusive Dayboro is. I am in a same-sex relationship and am wondering if people who are gay/lesbian would be generally accepted in the community?

JustWin75

In reply to Lilian,

I would say a vast majority of people living in Dayboro are heterosexual family types. There used to be a same sex couple living in my street in Dayboro for a few years, (two ladies) and to my knowledge, it didn't seem to bother anyone that I know of.

Dayboro is not Newfarm or Fortitude Valley that's for sure. But it isn't the bible belt in the midwest of hte U.S.A. either...

Quite frankly, there are some bogans in town who may make comments about people in a same sex relationship living in town. However, you will get that anywhere there are a few bogans who are too busy getting drunk every weekend (and haven't left the local district for ages!) to realise we are living in the 21st century... Knowing the locals, I'd say most would be oblivious of the fact until someone actually spelt it out to them that there was a same sex couple in town! And like anywhere else, if you are a nice enough couple, most people couldn't care less what sort of relationship you are in because they are too busy working etc...

Why not try renting there first and see what you think? It's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying, and at the moment there are a few very nice homes for rent in the centre of town...

Good luck!

"No new mine"

The comment from MeinDayboro about a new mine starting up is not accurate. There are no Mining Leases, Mineral Development Licences or Exploration Permits within 10 km of Dayboro. There are two quarries, one 6 km east at Neilsen Road Narangbah, which has been there for yonks, and one 10 km to the south east at Whiteside, also been there for a long time. Neither quarry runs trucks through Dayboro - the gazetted haulage route is away from Dayboro, east along either Dayboro Road to Petrie or Raynbird Road east to the Bruce Highway.
Daybor is a quiet, non-dusty town with a resident dentist, medical centre, chiropodist, physiotherapist, pharmacy, bus links to Petrie railway station and a large primary school, two child-care centres and a range of specialty shops and restaurants plus the IGA supermarket. It has super-fast internet because of a small number of users. It's a 55 minute run at 7am from Dayboro to Central Station by car (max 1 hour 15 mins in absolute peak hour). Petrol is not any more expensive than elsewhere, provided you know that petrol prices vary each day Brisbane-wide - buy on Tuesdays or Wed morning - never on Friday or Sat morning! Lived here since 2006 - love it! What's not to like??

Great for

"Not so rural anymore, just urban really. Only the gardens are bigger."

Dayboro,.... used to be nice but it has used its rural feel. It now is just a town with big gardens.

People buy properties of 1acre of land or more only to mow it with their ride-on every weekend, the whole weekend. It will be more quiet in central Brisbane, if you are after piece and quiet.

Soon an open cut mine will open just outside Dayboro, mining rocks, cement, road-base etc for the next 100 years. More dust, more trucks and more well everything I guess, just have a look how it will be if you drive from Dayboro to Petrie.

The roads in and out of Dayboro, are getting busy and now between Fingerboard road and Dayboro road they are going to put up another 100 houses, on top of the 30 odd that are there currently..... I guess another Millbrook getto....sorry should read Millbrook Estate.
Another 150 odd cars....well it might bring the petrol prices down.

Rural or quiet town.... no not anymore really. Dusty and noisy.

We have lived in Dayboro for about three years and absolutely love it. If we moved again it would only be to another property at Dayboro. We have great neighbours, a mix of retirees and young families.

"Can't wait to move to Dayboro"

We are currently living in Samford waiting for our house to be built at Dayboro. Everything we have seen and heard about the community, schools, sporting clubs has been positive and we can't wait to actually live there.

"How's the serenity!!!...more than just a home its a lifestyle"

Having lived in the area now for over 15months, i feel able to voice my opinion fairly.
I work at Kangaroo Point and yes it takes me on a average of an hour to and hour and half to get to work. But having always lived in the suburbs i can justify the drive for the lifestyle i live.
No speeding cars or hoons no raging parties, just lovely peace and quiet. Nature and wildlife. It is beautiful.
I built my house, i have not used a fan or a heater for one day since moving in. There is no need the air flows beautifully around eliminating the needed for artificial heating or cooler, therefore saving money.
I have kangaroos, echidna and many birds in my backyard. I have only ever seen one carpet snake since being here. I have 10 acres with native bush on both sides of me. I mainly get very small spiders around the house.
I mainly shop in strathpine on my way home but call into the local IGA, butcher, bakery or petrol station should i run out of anything i need. My kids play footy at the local club and swim at the pool. There is a great hairdresser and the pub has bands with great meals.
If you want to escape the rat race of the burbs then Dayboro or Ocean View is the place for it. You feel like you have stepped back in time yet are only 20 mins from Petrie/Strathpine.
My older 2 children go to Pine Rivers high and catch the free bus to and from school which picks them up from the end of the street.
It is a great community and excellent for kids.
Get the out of the house and infront of the TV and have them outside playing with animals or riding dirtbikes...it is a great life to live.

Thanks for the post, we are looking at buying land out there or Mango Hill as we live in that area now. We love Dayboro always have. Just a few questions in regards to the first persons post on this site and water issues. Are there water issues being on bore water or is it the same as being in town? I know they mentioned smell and taste and leaving scum in their toilets is this true as I can't find anything else that supports what they say? Also flooding I know it has flooded a couple of times, Do you know how many and how much of an issue this is or If they are doing anything to prevent this happening in the future? Thank you

"A long commute to the City-Hope you like Snakes-Very humid in the Summer"

Having lived in Dayboro for a few years unfortunately enough was enough and we left the area recently due to the following:

I work in the city and my partner convinced me that the country life would be good for us and our kids. Having read the other reviews i feel i should add my views. The Journey to Petrie station would take me on average 18 minutes and once there you always have issue's parking as so many people use the station, so allow yourself 10 minutes to find a space. After walking to the platform and catching the city express (if i hadn't missed it due to the parking issue's) i found my daily door to door time on average to be 1 Hour 25 minutes each way and i work only 5 minutes walk from Brisbane central, so be warned!.

Dayboro on our first impression does have the feel of a "yesteryear" township but if you need a carton of milk or a six pack of beers after 7pm then be prepared for a long drive as Dayboro closes and Samford or Petrie are a good 40 minute return trip.

As traditional Aussie's we love the outdoors and wildlife that we have in our beautiful country but in our two and a half years in Dayboro we were concerned with the amount of Snakes we would see as deadly Brown snakes were all to common a sight and on a couple of occasions would enter the property(very scary)

Our impression when we moved to the area was that it would be cooler summers and warmer winters due to the surrounding area, but the humidity due to the moisture can make it unbearable in the summer and in winter the nights can get very cold. The rain is also an issue with Dayboro and much of the area floods easily and takes weeks/months to return to normal, in 2009 i could not cut my grass for nearly 3 months after heavy rain.

Hope my honest opinion goes towards helping anyone make an informed choice.

I'm sorry, but most of the downsides you point out are true of most rural areas.
Clearly you are a city person. Most people move here for the quiet and peaceful life, and are not concerned about having to buy milk and bread and beer before 7pm.
Good luck back in the suburbs.

"Country Living so close to the City"

Its a 55 minute commute into the city by publiic transport from door to door. So if you, like so many people in Dayboro, love the country but work in the city then Dayboro is for you. It takes 12 minutes to drive to Petrie station and then you can catch the express train to central which takes 33 minutes.

Dayboro is a fantastic place for a young family. Plenty of space and lots of other young families to enjoy the friendly and lovely community.

If you require a nightlife, late night shopping or late night restaurants then do not move to Dayboro. After the IGA shuts all that is open is the pizza shop and the pub, and neither of these are all that busy.

Dayboro is serviced by a great school and a fantasic Doctors surgery, although there is no local High school, the neares of which are in Samford or Petrie.

Dayboro is just far enough away from Brisbane to stop everybody and anybody living there, but for those who are willing to live 10 minutes away from surburbia it's the nearest place to Utopia that a mere mortal could afford.

"High cost of daily living-not very friendly"

We find every day items such as food, fuel etc are very over priced in Dayboro. The fuel is at least 10c per litre more expensive. The bottle shop is on average 25% more and the choice is poor. The butchers is excellent but even now their prices have gone up. Overall the area is very nice to look at but feel it is a day trip location. Locals are very wary of new blood moving in! The local restaurant is very poor the staff always smell of smoke.

"Rural Beauty at it's Best"

Dayboro is a beautiful rural suburb on the extreme northern side of Brisbane. With an excellent country pub that delivers a mean pork masala, and a charming little village, it's a lovely place to live. There is a sweet primary school, a pharmacy, medical centre, cafes, bakery and grocery store. The township has quite a tight knit community and properties are somewhat cheaper than in Brisbane proper, however it's an easy commute to the northern suburbs like Ennogera. Camphor Laurel trees line many of the towns streets, rolling green hills surround the town and it really does have the feel of a town from the 1950's.
