Ross Avenue

"Friendly Neighbourhood"

Very quiet little dead end street with well looked after homes. Neighbours are very easy to get along with and even though you are so close to the main roads, there is minimal road noise. 2 minute drive to Mowbray and 5 minute drive to the launceston CBD. If you are looking for somewhere to live in Invermay - this would be a great location.

George Town Road

"Express Route"

George town Road has Pro's and Con's depending on what you like and are use too. Good points are that once you are on George Town Road, you have a direct route with easy flowing traffic to the Launceston CBD if heading south, George Town in the opposite direction as well as the East and north East Coast. Very busy road during the day quietens throughout the night. Homes are affordable whether renting or buying and the closest built up suburb with most conveniences is Mowbray (3 minute drive). Generally homes are around 50 years old in the area with a few exceptions. Within Walking distance of the Tasmanian University and Maritime College, high schools and primary schools.

Murray Street

"Fancy a Bet??"

Murray street is opposite the Mowbray horse and grey hound race track and like most streets in Mowbray, a very short walk to the Mowbray hotel, supermarkets and everything that Mowbray has to offer. Generally this side of Mowbray is a working class area and a quiet neighbor hood, keeping in mind there is the occasional rental property which is common throughout the northern suburbs due to the university being very close by helping investors gain good rental returns on their properties. A second supermarket has been built roughly 2 years ago with a new target building near complete within a 2 minute walk on Murray Street. This street provides easy accessibility to major roads leading to the Launceston CBD and other suburbs.

Trevallyn

"Amazing Views"

Trevallyn know as Nyllavert back in the 1930's is a great location due to proximity to the Launceston CBD, great views, and character homes some of which being the very few still standing when Launceston was first settled. A very quiet area and generally quite hill. The benefits of amazing views in quiet neighbourhoods along with close access to schools, public transport, doctors surgeries and everything Launceston has to offer. Top marks for Trevallyn....

Ravenswood

"Very Affordable"

Ravenswood consists of Two shopping centres a Service station, Police station, Volunteer Fire Station, Skate park, Hotel, Over 50's club, Community health centre, Community centre, Pharmacy, Library, Bakery, Neighbourhood house, Newsagent pus a few other conveniences as well as being a ten minute drive to the Launceston CBD. The suburb is perceived to have two sides - north and South, both quite affordable to rent and purchase but the south being more desirable of the two. "North Side" does consist of quite a few government housing properties where as privately owned homes is more dominant in the other areas. On many occasions, you can pick up a very affordable property.

Jellico Street

"Affordable Location"

Running from a busy vermont road through to a not so busy Janefield Street. usually this street can be quite busy with traffic through the day as being on the back doorstep of the Mowbray shopping centre. Great location as far as being close to all amenities around Mowbray, but you will need to keep in mind that you do get traffic through the day. Affordable rent and buying is an advantage of Jellico Street and easy access to major roads for quick access to the Launceston CBD. University is a short walk which may be a good opportunity for an investor to take advantage of.

Mayfield

"Appealing to first home buyers"

Mayfield is the closest outer suburb to Mowbray with a population of just over 1500 with an employment number of just under a 3rd of the population. The suburb is very close to the university with a good opportunity for investors or even first home owners looking to purchase around launceston. Mayfield is a 5 to 10 minute drive from the Launceston CBD with most conveniences in your nearest suburb (Mowbray) which is at the most, a five minute drive. There are pockets through out Mayfield which are public housing and other areas which are privately owned. If anyone is looking in the area or would like more info, do not hesitate to ask.

Betsy Street

"Tidy Culdesac"

Less than 2 km's to Mowbray town centre (aproximately 4 minutes drive) is Betsy Street. Well presented street with a great neighbourly spirit. One block from a main road (Vermont Road) but far enough away to not be able to hear the road noise. There is a bus stop with in walking distance of the street. Roughly 6 km's to the Launceston CBD. Mowbray itself is home of the Australian Maritime College, university along with local primary and secondary schools, docotor surgery, supermarkets and more. Busy little town with a great feel.

George Town

"At Tamar's River mouth"

George Town was first settled in 1804 and currently has a population of roughly 7000 people. There are some great little pockets around George Town for anyone looking to buy in a smaller town - from affordability to amazing locations with views of the river and close to the facilities that George town has to offer. About 5 minutes driving in a car and you will be at the beach and 30 minutes south will place you in Launceston.

Dobson Street

"Affordable and quiet"

If you are looking for affordability in a suburb that is generally quite pleasant, this is one of the many streets in Mowbray to choose from. On the outskirts of Mowbray yet close enough to be able to walk to all amenities on offer in the area. houses were built on average in the mid 1950's. Buses travel along Vermont Road which isnt too far away, supermarkets, doctors surgery, primary and secondary schools close by as well as the Tasmanian university. If looking in Mowbray, and after a quiet area - thsi would be one point of call for you.

"Close to all amenities"

Very close to the new target development, local supermarkets, 5 minutes from the university and walking distance to all mowbray has on offer. Crawford street has a great feel and a 5 minute drive to the Launceston CBD. Affordable renting opportunities and to purchase if looking to invest or move to the area. Working around the area for over 15 years, I have found this area of Mowbray to be quite pleasant.

Grubb Street

"Walk to the University"

A very short walk to the university and in a very quiet street. A great little street in the northern suburbs with houses selling under $220,000 to date and rents being quite affordable, houses being built from late 1940's to 1960's. Great neighbourhood and close to mowbray town centre, doctor surgery, supermarkets, public transport and a variety of fast food outlets. Grubb street is a dead end street, therefor not alot of drive past traffic.

Clark street is a great location for anyone looking to be close to all facilities the small town of Mowbray has, whilst being in a quiet and respected area of mowbray. Built up of older homes with majority of people living in the street own their homes with the occasional investment property. Affordable homes in friendly neighbourhood is one of the advantages of this street along with quick accessability to the Mowbray town centre.

Derby Street

"Quiet and Friendly Street"

After listing a property for sale in the street, I met most of the neighbours to get more of a feel for the area, and found most of the homes to be occupied by owners of the properties. Very pleasant neighbours that love a chat. Mainly weatherboard homes on average size blocks. The street is not a major thoroughfare therefor a quiet street. 5 minute walk to the mowbray town centre and a 5 minute drive to Launcestons CBD. Affordable and generally a nice feel to the street.

Located on the southern side of mowbray town centre yet a very short walk to the mowbray hotel, takeaway shops and everything that mowbray has on offer. Cadorna Street

"Great Family location"

Cadorna Street is on the border of the mowbray Primary School and literally a 30 second walk to the main street of Mowbray. Generally a quiet street an d a great location for a family due to all conveniences and school being so close by. The population of mowbray at last count was 3751 and growing. In the last 2 years, there has been a new supermarket built, a large development which Target has underway plus more in the pipeline. Mowbray is a growing suburb and Cadorna would be one of the better locations.

Vermont Road

"Main Road Living"

Vermont Road is the main Road from Mowbray through to Ravenswood and generally the route which people travelling from the northern suburbs through to Waverley, Ravenswood, St Leonards and possibly Newstead would use. Vermont Road is alongside the Launceston horse race track and the Mowbray hotel is also at the end of the road (Mowbray end). Once on Vermont Road, transit times to some locations in Launceston are sped up due to the free flowing of traffic. Neighborhood is mostly made up of home owners with a few investment properties in the mix.
